I hooked up an oil pressure gauge then the oil pressure shot up to 60 PSI at idle speed, I had used it to check the oil pressure in my 5. 7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 powered Holden Commodore when it had noisy lifters.
The oil pressure was 30 PSI at idle speed, 40 PSI at 2000 RPMs & 60 PSI at 4000 RPMs, the engine has been going great in the last 17 1/2 months ever since I replaced the hydraulic lifters!

I'm curious. Why buy a wreching yard engine with practically the same amount of milage on it? There's 40, 00 miles between the two engine's. The wrecking yards charge about the same as a long block from Napa. So why use an old engine when you can buy a rebuilt engine?

Is it better to replace or rebuild a 270, 000 engine. It runs great but it's leaking oil 4 quarts between oil change 3000 miles.
Also leaking coolant slow leak can't see where from.
Also needs a knock sensor replaced the rear one. 03 Sierra 4. 8

I plan on putting a Cummins 4bt in my 97 ford e150 when the 4. 6 v8 blows up it's at about 180, 000 roughly so she still got a few more miles left In her I just love diesels cause with a few hundred bucks you just unleashed about 100 horses
