Buy a new locking ring! After removal mine was slightly warped and I spent hours trying to reuse it. I even attempted to fix it, to no avail. The new ring took less than 5 mins. You'll likely need to get this at a dealer. Or special order from parts store. List is over 30! Ridiculous considering I bought the pump for < 100 shipped from Rock Auto and their quality.
Tip: when placing the new pump into the tank start with the float (flat side) parallel with passenger side. Once bottom has initially cleared the hole in the tank twist counter clockwise until the flat side matches the flatest side of the access cutout (flat towards front of car or 1/4 turn until. Once it has cleared the body of the pump, you'll be able to twist another 1/4 turn and just slightly left of being parallel with driver's side. The new pump had more spring tension resistance than the old, so it took some extra downward force to position and turn the ring simultaneously. Double check that the ring seats under all of the tabs. In my experience distributing the correct amount of downward force evenly was a challenge. Without the new ring this would'nt have been accomplished because the metal is soft. It takes a great deal of force to unlock and lock. I used a small sledge hammer and a heavy duty chisel.

at the 20: 10 second mark of this video, is the exact problem im currently trying to fix for a client, the 4 second crank delay. about to order a new fuel pump assembly but saw you just put this new one in and it did the same thing mine is doing.
So my question is do you know or remember if the 4 second crank went away after letting it cool down? I always have that 4 second delay on cold start

Doing mine soon, I have a punch set I think will work. Im assuming because it was so rusted the lockring was hard to remove? Opened my panel, no rust. so i should be able to reuse it. Will a manual punch work? Like the one you used to lock it on.

Fuel filter is inside the new pump? my model is nf reestyling 2008 year v6. I cant find the pump in my country. only find the filter. and is too hard to change. for me is better change a pump and filter at time. number part of pump? thanks

Surprised no gasket between pump and gas tank. I'm no prude, but it is nice to not hear constant profanity in your video. The last one I watched on an Elantra, literally, every other word was 'F' or 'MF' hahaha Thanks for the video.

I like your non sparking, BIG Nasty punch! Great Video! Even though the Fords I worked on had the big plastic nut to hold the pump down in the tank cavity, I don't remember having one pump crack the body like this Hundai.

I know this video is three years old. I am about to do this on a 2010 Sonata GLS. I have watched several videos and think this is the best one. I will report back on the project when I finish.

I have a 2004 sonata, and my plate light is out. I didn't see a fuse for it under stearing wheel box. Do you know if it does are Doesn't have a fuse. Are is it just my bulbs need changed.

cars are a pain in the ass-------repairs, ins, oil changes, inspections, worst investment u can make they get u where u want too go but dam horse and buggy just feed horse water and grain!
