Come along with Eric O. as he has a look at this 2006 Ford Focus ZXW that is having an issue with the AIR System and has a code P0491 Secondary Air Injection System Insufficient Flow Bank 1 and a P0410 Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction. Let's see what it is!

WOW! BATH TIME! Where's your rubber duckie? Only one better than this was the time you opened the HVAC (undercar) drain and like a garden hose, the water poured out! There's your problem lady! There should be a way to purge these systems from time to time. Great Video, can't forget that! I wonder how many parts will need replacement after that water gets cleaned out?
Obviously, not much time was put into possible causes! Many times I've had to run my own test to verify operation or non operation, as the case may be.
When is Part 2? Thanks for sharing this. Oh ya. What would happen if all that water got in the engine? HMMMMMMMM!

I have a 2007 Ford Focus 2. 0 Hatchback. I have the codes P2257 - P2258 & P0412. I have replaced the secondary pump, the solenoid, the Relay to the pump and the vacuum diverter valve. I cleared the code and drove around a couple of days and the engine light came on again with same codes. The pump works (blows air) when I jump it. Doesnt sound like pump turns on during cold early morning start.
Do you have any idea why the pump will not turn on when starting up first thing in the morning?
Is there something Im missing? Any suggestions?

Would love to see you tackle a trans problem with one of these. I have a 2013. They have the 6-speed automated manual trans in them and, the clutch, at least, is a POS. Have to have all kinds of special equipment to work on them. I wouldn't wish one of those on you for anything. Thanks for another great video and, as usual, excellent work.

Im still trying to watch all your videos. I was a garage owner and a heavy equipment service manager. You are a much better mechanic than I ever was. I like how you do things right while still doing the right thing for the customer. Great to see your family too.

Nice video as always. How often do cars have to be inspected in your state and can you maybe do a video sometime of what all has to be done in order for the vehicle to pass the state inspection, what it costs, is it a scam etc?

We drove our Toyota Camry wagon 375, 000 mi without any trouble. Then we sold it to a kid who put in a new set of valves and drove it another 100, 000 mi. That's the clear difference between Ford and Toyota.

Eric, as always your approach is methodical, logical, rigorous, and with good humor. You would have made a great physician. You are however already a great mechanic. I continue to learn from your videos.

So is it just the diverter valve or is it Silenoid too? I have same code an no way to check with light but Im pretty sure pump is working Im basically at the part u figured it was one or the other

I used to hate it when my diverter valve would squirt unexpectedly, It always got in my eye, then I got smart and started using a sock.
That reaction was funny though. Great video as always!

I never knew until now that ford changed the engine orientation in the focuses, my exhaust is in the front as opposed to the intake in front on this car you are working on.
