hey boss, maybe you can help me before i fold and buy an expensive ass tccm. my 4 wheel drive seems to have gone out, it worked great, we had snow, i used 4h then everything kind of went kapoot after a few days. it also worked prior. like an amateur i started shotgunning parts at it. put a new encoder ring in the motor, put a new front axle actuator, put a new switch. still has all the same symptoms. when i turn the key on the switch (low, hi, 2, auto) lights up like its supposed to during start up but then goes blank, lights out, and service 4w is on no indicator of what setting its on. i have 7 codes but i think its from unplugging everything. the one thats constant after i clear is 327. checked and traced all wires and all seems good no blown fuses etc. you have any advice? could the little motor inside the transfer case motor housing (the one that turns the gears) cause the 327?

Alls I can say is THANK YOU! Your video was spot on to the problem I was having. I had replaced a few of the parts myself and was about to send it to a shop. I pulled the fuse cover and it was exactly as you had videotaped. Exactly! Alls the wife and I could do was laugh how spot on it was and we kept saying Thank you YouTube. Brown wire with a white tracer, repaired all the wires those little critters lived on for awhile and everything worked perfectly. Thank you again!

South Main Auto Repair LLC do you have a wiring diagram like the one you used in this video for the t-case on an 02 Chevy Avalanche that you are willing to share? I put in a new reman t-case and new encoder motor. It won't shift properly into 4 Lo and not throwing any codes. Trying to see if I have a wiring issue or new reman case is junk. Thanks and great sleuthing on this video!

Hi, Eric. Thanks for the video and help pointing out problems. I was wondering if you could help me out since I'm having a similar problem. I'm getting 0. 03V on the brown/white wire at the encoder motor and the same thing at the C151 plug. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction where to go next.

I have a 246 transfer case with 2. 72 gear ratio to replace the one I have but it has two plugs for the encoder instead of the one like the one is on my truck. but the new one has a slot type shifter rod and the old one has the star type. Can I wire it up to work with the new one?

This is why I always call off when I'm sick. Dickhead move to be sick and grabbing all over a customers car. Dosnt matter if you own a buisness or not, it's just kinda scummy as a mechanic. It's like going to a doctor who has the flu and getting sick from him.

god dam! I was having the same problem and thought it was my transfer case motor and just checked to see if my wire was chewed by a mouse since I noticed my fuse box had a mouse in it. Bingo same wire chewed on. Wired it and it worked!
