Hi Eric, Love you videos, watch and thumbs up them all the time. This video really got my attention as I drive a 1989 F150 300 6 cylinder 5 speed and I've had a similar issue as the pickup in your video, that is, idle fluctuates from about 1100-1450 back and forth. So far I've replaced the coolant temp sensor, the IAC, and the TPS. also removed, cleaned, checked the EGR, smoke tested for vacuum leaks and the symptoms stayed the same. Sooo, I bit the bullet and bought the Actron 9690 hoping to access all the data that you accessed BUT of course it doesn't have the pages or at least I can't access the pages that you go to in this video that show sensor data. I wrote down the steps you took and tried several times but the information just won't come up on the screen. If you know of something that will help to access the sensor data for my truck please let me/us know. My 9690 seems to have current software, burn date is 03/12/19 and the SW ID is 0b0b. Thank you in advance.

I bought an 88 a few years ago, almost same thing except no mass air sensor and low psi intank pumps feeding high psi on frame instead of high psi intank single pump, I got it for 800 guy said it was limping on it's last leg, I looked it over, no temp sensor was pipe plugged, no thermostat, upper intake gasket vac. leak, tps sensor had 3 dead spots, and the tank selector has( or should have had) a filter which was removed due to really poor feed pump pressure, I spent a day fixing all that and it ran so freaking awesome until someone wrecked it, I used it for hauling cars f250 5speed 5. 0, the fuel consumption was better than my 03 f150

Hello, I've got 2003 Nissan Pathfinder 3. 5 4wd. I have the following problem: when the engine is hot, if I shut it down and start, it starts right away, but rpm goes down and it tends to shut off, sometimes it survives and rpm goes up, but in most cases it just shuts off. If I just compensate with the gas pedal, then it runs normally. Another symptom is that when the engine is hot and I'm at the stop light, sometimes rpm is at 500 and I feel slight vibration in the steering wheel. If I go to N or P, rpm goes to normal. Otherwise the car runs just fine. What could be the problem? Thanks in advance.

Thank you soo much for this video. This is the problem in my 1987 bronco XLT; most people talk around the fix(could be this, that) but you showed me how to fix it and the tools to use to check it & fix it! Amazon will get a sale from me for this tester. I have wanted something like this for 20yrs. Please Keep up the Great. Work best wishes Therin

I had a '94 Ranger with. issues lol. But it was OBD1 and I remember having to use an OBD1 scanner. After I finally got rid of that nightmare (literally ended up just signing the title to the first person that could haul it away. No cash changed hands) I swore up and down that every vehicle from now on MUST have OBD2 lol.

I pretty much have same vehicle, 1997. Runs great but with1 elusive problem. When driving and slowing down engine rpms engine stalls. When slowing down to stop light engine stalls. Starts up again fine, idles fine. Any ideas? Iv been thinking about buying this scan tool but was unsure of its obd1 capabilities. Thx

I drive my 1990 lincoln towncar everyday. And it has 6 computers/ drivers and sensors everyware. I was looking for a better obdl scan tool now I know what to look for. Cause I have been fixing all my obd1 systems with an ect2000, a dvom and a scope on a rope.

First off I want to say that I you for the help. I like how you went into some great detail on what causes it. I have a 1996 Ford F-150 300 L6. It had the same problems and thanks to you I was able to fix it without an OBD 1 reader.

Great logic. Had an 89 GMC 5. 7 TBI that did the same only when hot, started normal. Rich/misfire when cold. Apparently not the temp sensor as I replaced it with same results. Might resort to that scan tool for more data.
