I appreciate the video, my 2009 malibu very likely has a slipped reluctor wheel on one cam, as a shadetree mechanic I can't afford these scanners nor does it make sense to spend the money, but shame on GM for building such a pile of crap, adding a key to the reluctor ring would have cost them what? few cents? now I have a perfectly well running car with excellent gas mileage, 250, 000 miles and possibility of running for another 250, but instead it will end up in a junkyard as engine swap at this point would cost more than its worth (bonus misery, GM doesn't even have the camshaft I would need because of the strikes, thanks GM)

The Aurora was a full-size, luxury, sports sedan, developed by GM to rejuvenate Oldsmobile. By the time the Aurora was released, in 1993, Oldsmobile sales had plummeted from 1, 000, 000 in 1985 to 400, 000. I tried to sit in an Aurora, and could not. 6: 50 I am 5' 10, not tall, but my head bumped the roof when the seat was all the way down. I knew then that Oldsmobile was doomed. _Luxury_ cars need lots of head-room!

Ive got these two codes happening on my daughters GMC Terrain. I would love to see what things looked like under the valve cover. Did you end up getting that job?
Shes not driving it even though it seems to run ok because it is an interference engine and there is a chance that the timing is off. She has an appointment at the GM dealership next week. I wish we lived closer to you!

Dang Mr O! You showed that chevy who's the boss. No guessing allowed! Thanks for being an Awesome Tech and with a willingness to share and take us along. Hope you get the chain job so we could follow up with the actual visual. Seeing is believing and you show us all either physically or Electronically. Thanks again for time and videos and being so good to us!

Once again your skills at diagnose are highly impressive as well as all your other mechanical skills. What was the issue concerning that vehicle if you can say? I watched the whole video waiting for the answer and I got a report, a good one although the actual issue which was causing the timing to advance?

engineers will jump over 500 virgins to screw a tech, in mopar world (where i have worked for 30 years) all the pid info stays live and you can actually see the difference with a scan tool, what fool engineer thought it was a good idea to kill the data should be made to work on his design: -/

HOLY SNOWBALL ERIC O. WHERE'S THE DECK LID? ALL THAT GRAY! From a fellow tech to another, keep it up, man. So far you're pretty much the only vehicle tech on YouTube I can always agree with. I won't mention the others. LOL

So, on my old 1971 Nova I used to advance the distributor 10 degrees advanced to get a bit more HP out of the car. Is that different than the timing chain being advanced? Like, would the results wind up being the same?

The reluctor is an interference fit, no keying at all! And the manufacturer-recommended test to check slippage won't detect small movement, only large ones?
Are they having a laugh?
