I bring you through the process of diagnosing and repairing a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder that is having issues with the steering angle sensor. It's making the traction control kick on when trying to make a turn

I have 2008 Nissan sentra with the air bag light on. I tried using the cruise control on the freeway and notice it didn't work. As I did more digging apparently the clock spring goes bad. The radio and other controls also don't work. Sometimes one button does. In short I need to go to the yard and find one but just haven't got around to it. So that clockspring may be it on this one too. Not sure the sentra has that angle sensor. I didn't see anything about that. The dealer wants and arm and a leg so it'll have to wait until I find one.

Id say they put a incorrect clockspring in it, or broke something when they hacked the thing apart to get at the clockspring. Based on the mounting devices and connectors being damage and that switch not fitting securely Id say team of cavemen were tasked to that job.
Likely a good thing you film some of this stuff so your butt is covered. The saying Not my monkeys, not my circus! Comes to mind. There was a lot of monkey business going on with that steering wheel.

The Nissan clocksprings come complete but need to check the new switches match. I've gotten new ones where the fog light switch was missing and the parts guys said that was the only one clockspring listing and there wasn't a separate listing for a fog light switch. Glad I kept the old parts and the old fog lamp switch still worked so I didn't have to fight that battle with the parts department. Not sure if there are other switch options besides the fog lights either.

Our 2008 Chevy Trailblazer does that! Almost got me killed turning left in front of a transport truck! Had to pull the traction control fuses (both traction and stability. Dealer said it was the steering wheel yaw sensor but no parts were available and once they were I decided it's way more fun to drive without the computer controlling everything, especially in the winter! :)

I'm not a professional mechanic, but I've always felt that if you can look at my work and tell that I've been there then I've failed in some way. I've had multiple occasions where a customer stopped by after an engine replacement to talk about the car and they look and assume I haven't touched it yet. That's the way I like it.

The sensor detected that the sensor was defective, and activated a sensor to counteract the imaginary vehicle motion, resulting in a false sensor reading. I think. :) Seeing these new cars makes me think I should buy that 1999 Toyota Corolla I saw at a local dealer. Didn't need all that wiring to steer in 1999.

When I buy a used car, I usually go through and replace all the missing screws (with OE if possible. One mechanic I will never use again gave me a car back with a bunch of screws missing, then told me they were never there. The look on his face was priceless when I showed him my invoice for the OE screws.

I just replaced the light switch on my Frontier. I wanted auto headlights, and all I had to do was replace the switch with the right part since my truck already has the light sensor on the dash for the climate control. Nice to know it's not just me that struggles getting the column covers off!
