I have a look at a Cadillac DTS that was towed in from my used car guy. He picked it up at the auction as a no start. They replaced the starter and the battery but it still will not crank over. Let's see what it really needs. Travis: I have heard the northstar are boat anchor motors i would love to meet the engineer that said lets move the starter under the intake manifold so i can punch him and or her in the mouth one of my old bosses said if you want be a engineer you have to apprentice for 2 years as a mechanic before even touching a computer button i say 4 years

I have a 2005 Trailblazer that has random stall issues with no codes. Went to various mechanics and highly rated dealers and spent thousands on repairs only to still have intermittent stall issues. I asked scanner danner for his thoughts and he replied that he wouldn't let a car like mine in his garage because those kinds of electrical problems are too hard to ID and fix. Watching this video makes me wonder how SMA would do. My gut feel is he would at least make educated tries and not do like my mechanics did and willy nilly replace parts at random. My other guess would be he wouldn't tell me to go away like scanner danner would. Maybe I am wrong.

I had 1 of those where squirrels got into the air box. chewed their way through the bottom of the airbox and the fender liner. Unreal. Every wire in there was mangled. I ended up chopping a harness off 1 from a self serve junkyard. It was already someplace else that threw a starter and relay at it as well. Tell tale was no engine light, KOEO. Really, not much worked. Not sure what some shops are thinking.

Nice shooting Sherlock Ohms
Both my Dodge Cummins trucks had this problem. damn ground squirrels. Air boxes were so full of mesquite seeds and insulator pad fibers, it maxed out the air filter minder! Mileage went in the tank as well. Repaired the damage, replaced the pads and pop-riveted hardware screen cloth across the air intake openings. So far, so good.

I know what the problem is, it's a Northstar! No more need be said! I had a 92 Seville with the 4. 9 in it. When I sold it a few years back, it had 246, 000 miles on it and still ran and drove well, but was just a bit outdated. The kid I sold it to loves it and uses it as his daily driver to this day.

such an easy diag and yet they still went after the starter! i always do the quick and dirty jumping the starter relay to see if the starter cranks then step back from there if it does. especially since that starter isn't an easy one to replace!

And to add insult to injury the first commercial to come up after seeing your ugly mug (just kiddin') is a CADILLAC COMMERCIAL. Is it any wonder that GM has gone to Poop. Northstar has got to be one of the worst things Cadillac has ever done.

These are actually my favorite South Main videos, where you chase down damaged wiring or connectors. I watch and enjoy them all however, and have even learned a few things. Thanks for putting them out.

Hi Eric! I m curious - why didn t you finish off that wiring harness with some of the Honda anti-rodent tape? Thanks much for raising the knowledge of many of us. It s greatly appreciated.
