Chrysler 200: Front Wheel Bearing dipwadz: Must not have been in NY too long by the looks of it. I have a couple of 47 yr old cars that still show the plating on the bolts and nuts. These are on cars that had rust as standard equipment. 240Z's One started out in So CA, the other is a CO car.

Maybe someone or Eric the man himself can help. So in my sisters car, the abs and traction light would come on when she would turn and brake at the same time. I put my Maximus 3. 0 scanner on it and it had a front left speed sensor code. I looked at live data to see if it was reading and it was and it was also pretty consistent with the other wheel speed sensors. Me being a new and more on the inexperienced side of mechanicing, I thought maybe the speed sensor ring had a chunk missing out of it maybe or the wheel bearing was bad and wearing into the speed sensor ring. So I replaced the whole wheel bearing and speed sensor assembly. I felt real confident it would fix it but low and behold, it didn t. My next thought is maybe the abs control module or pump may be going bad but I wanted to hear some other opinions on what maybe I should look at or if anyone has tan across a similar issue. (And yes the tire sizes are all the same)

I believe the magnet is in the speed sensor and the bearing carries the iron lugs that break magnetic lines of force that induces a pluse voltage to the computer. One way to test this would be to count the lugs. It should be a number that divides into 360 evenly. The computer then can count the pluses of each wheel and apply the brakes accordingly. Also, if the magnet was on the bearing, wouldn't it collect rust on it and send weak or intermittent signals to the computer? One last thing, if the magnets were on the bearing wouldn't the magnetic lines of force enterfere with each other being so close to the magnet next to it? These are only questions and if I'm wrong, please help to understand how the antilock systems works. Thank you. I really have enjoyed your show for years and have learned a lot from you!

ERIC! thanks for the video. I get so tired of explaining to folks that the codes are a guide to point you in the direction of the problem, not a crystal ball to tell you what part to swap. Even when I do explain it, so many just stick with what they want to believe and ignore the logic. I once heard a WISE person say I can explain it to you, but I cannot understand it for you. Your content helps cause I can point folks to your videos and they can hear it from from another honest Mechanic.

Hi SMA - does your fancy scan tool cover Saabs? Specifically I have 3 9-3 OGs 1999 & 2000 convertibles & a 2002. The convertible roofs are failing (leaking hydraulic fluid) but I d like to step through the raising & lowering independently. I have a Tech2 scan tool from China but am struggling to update the firmware. Wondering if I should bite the bullet for a better scan tool. I have 3 Saabs, 16 Suzukis & 2 new VWs. (I have both the Saab & Suzuki cards for the Tech2. Cheers

I'm just curious as to why you don't torque bolts on camera? I would think that that would be extra protection for you in the event that somebody came to you and accused you of some sort of negligence and not torquing a bolt you could show them the footage to prove that you did

Mr. O, always enjoy your videos. Have you ever used a penetrating fluid called FreeAll? On my uses, old farm equipment, tractors, automobiles etc. I ve come to believe this is the best penetrate fluid. I wouldn t trade one can of freeall for two of the Kroil.

When are you coming to visit Eric? I have an '11 Subbie Outback that's waiting for rear wheel bearing hubs, both sides. Luckily the car is from Pennsylvania so you should feel right at home getting lots of rusty iron mineral. I'll buy the beer.

The error codes just tell the mechanic that the computer isn't seeing the values it expects to see but it doesn't tell them why. Like when a tire pressure sensor shows low pressure, it's usually low pressure in the tire, not a bad sensor.

The reason Eric doesn t always show the actual torque-ing to spec is because this is a family rated show and torquing is adult only. Once in a while he slips up and shows it, so make sure the kids aren t around.
