They should design those plastic panels with headed studs and bar with key holes cut into so you zip out a keeper bolt and pull the locking bar that disengages the headed studs that can now slip through the key holes in the locking bar or or maybe tabs that lock the panel into slits in a mounting panel and then a simple bolt or two that lock it in place in the rear hatch area. I'm no engineer but there seems to be many different options that don't involve sacrifice parts increasing parts and labor costs. At least its no a GM, if it was the plastic panel would either have an exhaust pipe or cross member in the way, be mounted with rivets instead of bolts or have a incorporated programmable module to monitor the doors movement and barometer pressure that they would use to feed data to a virtual sensors that controls your ignition timing and fuel trims!

My Dad had a Kia van and the sliding door stopped opening. Went to the local dealer in Florida and about $350 later his door worked again. About 3 months later the other side also stopped opening and he was back in the neighborhood so I volunteered to look at it. All that was wrong was one of the little plastic clips that held a rod on the latch mechanism had gotten brittle and snapped which dropped the actuator rod. The dealer had installed a new latch on the other side instead of just replacing the little clip. maybe it wasn't available Or. the parts department wanted the sale Anyhow. a small zip tie later it was fixed for free. It's good to have a mechanic in the family.

It's not good to tease the mechanic while he's working on your car. Distraction is not good. Especially if you're a pretty lady. LOL Congratulations on getting your toy fixed Mrs. O. The Cobbler's Son never had no shoes and the mechanics wife never got her car fixed. Boo Hoo. That woman's smile is to die for.

Two things: First, I postulated they use one MAGENTA clip (but sell only white replacements) so that they can tell if somebody has been in there. Did you replace the magenta clips I could not tell.

Should probably consider getting rid of that kia. Many reports of engines failing left and right. Not just the 2. 4's anymore, the 3. 3's are suffering as well.
The last good engines were the 2. 7, 3. 5 and 3. 8 non gdi.

That's why I am still single, I watched the wizard car repair, and she made him dig a new hole for the broken mail box, on top of a high voltage area. Humm. All most shocking. Slammed it in there with a slugg hammer.
