An Out Of Balance Buick Balancer Baby!
video description
I did a few of those cranks myself back in the day. I'm not surprised to see a subframe bolt disappear. It does occur and I caught a couple of them myself. Guess GM never add some sort of loctite to keep them in check and they just slowly walk out on their own.

My outer ring just went on my 2005 Ford Explorer there was a huge bang like somebody Hit the hood of the car with a baseball bat it popped out by the wheel hovered in place because it was spinning at like 3000 RPMs it looked like and then it shot down the road in front of my car like a rocket that I just launched thankfully didn t hit anybody and It went into some bushes about 100 yards away the belt did not fall off and I drove it right to my mechanic because that was too big of a job for me

When you're pulling off the belt: Always slide it off of the smooth pulley, whether that's the fan pulley or an idler pulley, etc. --- It slides right off. It always confuses me when I see people struggling to get the belt off of the alternator, AC or crank pulley, because it has that big lip you have to stretch it over; Just go straight to the smooth pulleys with no lip, and it's 10x easier/ same with putting them back on.

would like to see vid of axle swap and subframe reattachment. if your subframe was wobbly like that would you have steering issues or tire wear? about to replace brake lines on my moms 99 park avenue. it has a spewing boot as well. tried to replace it and couldn't get the bad one out of the box, even with the slap hammer. guess i need air tools and a big compressor.

The ole 3100. guaranteed to leak right off the showroom floor. Idk how many intake gaskets I changed on them. Glad most vehicles here in the People's Republic of Salt that had that engine are rotted away to nothing. Still have a few coat hangers for digging down in the egr ports on those engines to open them back up to get rid of egr codes to pass nysi.

For a 21 year old Buick in upstate NY that car is doing really well. Minimal rust, and sure the belt and pulley was shot, and the CV joint is going but still in good shape. With any luck he will agree to fix the CV joint soon and keep the car running for a few more years. Oil leaks probably should be fixed as well if he wants to keep it running.

That was easy! You keep saying after you find other issues on vehicles you let the owners know and it s up to them if they want it fixed or not, my question to you is, after finding issues that wouldn t let the vehicle pass inspection, are you obligated by law to remove the vehicle off the road knowing it s not safe to drive?

A few years back I replaced a good original factory balancer with a new Dorman as a precautionary measure when I did a t belt service on a Mitsubishi. A month later that Dorman crap separated and sheared off a piece of the plastic t belt cover which caused the belt to slip. 4 bent valves, a new t belt and crank sensor later.

I've done several of these Buick/Olds harmonic balancers on my own cars. I've always just gunned them down with an electric impact. Never paid attention to torque specs. They never came off or caused me any problems. Never heard of a crankshaft relearn, but they worked anyway. It always amazes me just how much I don't know!

That was disappointing.
SMA was all about the family the business, neighbours and life in general, not just how to fix cars, lots of people can do that. I want to know how the family and the guy on the mobility scooter are getting along. just my opinion.

You lucky man, the 3. 8L is a bear. I had to make a special tool to hold the pulley just to get the bolt out. I thought my Strap-On impact was getting weak so I searched the inter-Web, low and behold there are a load of people who had the same issue I did.

You can do IT because you ve got 40 years experience and 100k in tools lol. Most times there s nothing better than been there done that a hundred times. And your expertise with electrical diagnostics is amazing. I m pretty sure no one in Amarillo can do that.

If I can do it, you can do it. Legendary tag line. For the many people people that benefit from your awesome videos, another truthful tag line might 'If I can do it, I can show you how to do it. ', because that's precisely what happens. Thanks again Eric.

Another nice job, Eric. Frankly not sure how the owner heard the squealing belt over the lifter clacking. Then again my wife tells me that I don't hear her but can detect the smallest squeak in my car. Listening and hearing, two different skills.

Two questions for you,
Why use the install tool and not the bolt?
What would be the reason for the torque spec then turn another 72 degrees?
Wouldn't a higher torque be sufficient?
Well I guess that's three questions, oops
