Hey Erik Good luck Miller is a Great Machine, I have one and after using 3 other Mig welders, Its the best and smoothest welder i have ever used, One sugestion, My welding suppliers, tell me i should run on the 220 Volt phase as it will give me more stable welding and penetration on all different modes from lite sheetmetal to heavy 1/4 inch frames or even castings, One other things to check make sure the correct feed roller was put in for whatever wire you are running, When i started with mine it ran ok but just seemed to pulse a little, i checked and it had an. 030 and Since mostly welding sheet metal I like 023 for liter welds, Am sure it will give you many years of service

Picked up one of these from the local supply shop today. Set it up and on the very first weld it came out perfect. The auto set mode is like cheating.
I started learning on a HTP 2400 and that is also a good machine but the stepped power settings on thinner stuff were just not good enough. Too cold or too hot I found a lot of the time. Last year I bought their new 220 pro pulse and that thing was a total POS from day one. Never ran right and the only thing it was good at was burning the wire into the tip and burning your patience right along with it.

Welding is something I never got a good hold of. can't even compare to your unprofessional results. I only ever got some passable results with sticks 46 and 63 (not sure if you have them named so, 46 is a black steel, somewhat porous, and 63 is acid resistant.
63 gave a neat silvery and bluish bead, was easy to strike and never stuck.
For the 48 stick, I can well relate to why it is called stick welding. It kept sticking and it was hard to strike.

I have this exact welder. Honestly, the autoset is pretty damn good, usually will get you really close. Just set your heat/thickeness and leave it on whatever gauge wire you're using, and that's that. Maybe if you're a pro welder you can tune in better than autoset, but for a backyard, occasional user the autoset works nearly perfect every time.

I used to worked in a service station and the boss was using the Lincoln ac/dc welder and set the electric panel on fire and fire department came. Could finish welding up the snow plow
Remember more power.
Just brought a 201 xs AHP tig welder brand new

Test it with argon and also try it on 1/4 hardend steel like unibody frames or the old ih frames you can weld thicker if you take your time and pretreat it right for example preheat the metal before welding and using gas

Nice welder. I like how new inverter welders have on-demand fans. First Gen 211 was transformer based, now I have an inverter unit with auto-fan. Small detail, but for some reason very nice.

We have an old Mac welder still in the shop and we like it for exhaust because the gun is smaller and gets to the top of the pipe much better than then Lincon and miller does
