Ford Fusion: Front Window Regulator Darren: I replaced a regulator on a Honda the other day and after some colourful expletives because i was having the same issue as you, i stumbled across the window driver initialisation in the scan tool when diagnosing another fault in the bcm, not saying ford have this feature but worth a look!

Just got my Acura mdx back from the shop, with more problems than it went in for repairs. Got it back with new used front right fender cause they hit a curb or something, Blew all my fuses in the center fuse panel (under hood ) has 2 fuse panels under the hood. My radio wasn't working anymore and that's how I found the fuses missing and blown. Acura thankfully has lots of replacement fuses in the panels. Most of the issues where electrical, paid 2100. 00 for repairs to be done in the first place, but they did not do half the work I requested plus they had the vehicle for 3 weeks probably waiting for the fender to be shipped to them to replace. But When they installed the fender they didn't line it up right so now I have to do it. :(
Wish all mechanics where like you Eric.

I've done a few of these on my own cars and I dread it. All those connectors, multiple screws and bolts, and finally the rivets make this a difficult job. Eric makes it look easy, but this is hours worth of work for a normal human being with tools you don't necessarily have. I've never seen a plastic panel like this with everything bolted, riveted, and plugged into it. Normally there is a sheet of plastic with goop on it hiding the works inside the door. Before starting this job, you have to sit back, relax for a minute, and get your gumption up. Take your time and it can be done.

Just DIY-ed this a week ago on my 2008 Fusion passenger door - same process. Wish your video had been around about 2 weeks ago, when it broke. For the home mechanic an alternate would be using 1/4 by 1/2 nuts and bolts (I used nylock) to hold the regulator to the panel (got that from some of the Amz regulator reviews. I left the stand off on the panel. Took about 2 hours, guessing without the edits yours was about half that time. Great video, love knowing even the professionals get hung up on the same stuff, they just have complete shop of the right tools to deal with it!

Makes me feel better for the hassle I had replacing a window regulator on a 2001 Civic. New regulator fit on the door frame perfectly, but the glass would not align in the mounting holes - off by maybe 1/4. Could not figure out the issue UNTIL I noticed the regulator I had was for the driver side on a Civic coupe versus a sedan even though the part numbers checked out. Had to go to two other part stores to find the sedan regulator and, voila, problem solved. Thirty minutes to replace, four hours to track down the right part. Thanks as always, Eric.

As you know, the fibrous isolation discs are installed to prevent galvanic corrosion between the single-use tension-tightened fasteners and the anterior structural support panel of the vehicle entry portal. Failure to replace them has initialized corrosion damage to the structural integrity of the vehicle that requires its condemnation and demolition immediately. As for the matter of the Maroon Dongle Lock Reinforcement Apparatus, I recall they were an offshoot of the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
Thank you for your submission, sincerely, PRNY.

Great Job Eric! I like the fact that you caught that piece of foam that fell off! I caught it out of the corner of my eye and had to slow down the speed so i could see what it was! The real amazing part to me is I ve worked with a lot of good techs in the electronic field that were good at fixing tv's, radios etc but they had a mental block about cleaning the device after the repair which i watched you do! A sign of a REAL PRO! Thanks for the vids and education Eric!

I hate window regulators! It's gratifying to see someone else struggle with it And you didn't forget to plug the connector in the door latch before reassembly! Good job, Eric!
The only way I know to reset and relearn the window regulators, is to disconnect the battery, and then you loose presets, etc.
Nice to see you clean your fingerprints off the murder weapon PS: It's a murder weapon because, after you're done with it, you're this close to murder someone

My 00s Silverado passenger window regulator was so slow that it would trip its breaker on the way up in the winter. I took the door apart and greased the tracks with no improvement. I ended up doing it again and sprayed grease on the cables through their travel and now it's fine. And the driver's door regulator pulls away from the glass when it's iced up every year but that's a different story.

For DIYer level quality, the Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic rivet tool is pretty good. Every team in FIRST Robotics that uses pop rivets that I've ever talked to uses it and has no problems. If you're going to only do up to a thousand or so rivets a year it's going to do fine. Their Mcgraw branded one looks like it could be pretty much the same tool as the Astro one, for 20 less.

All us mechanics wouldn t have such nice junk drawers if we remembered every nut, bolt, screw washer or foam backer on every job. The really good mechanics wouldn t need a newer, bigger better tool box with bigger junk drawers. The best feeling is when your working on the next car missing that bolt, nut screw or washer is you know you have one!

If I had a shop I would have one rule. No window repairs. What a pain in the ass. I would rather be elbow deep in a cylinder then work on something in the door frame. Seems like every video you do the grass cutter decides to cut grass or Josh goes ape on the air hammer. We got best of both worlds on this one.

You forgot the rivet behind the motor assembly. but I'm sure the car will die before anyone ever needs to go back in there again anyway; and if they do, it's still no big deal-- they'll just have to pull that speaker again and reach up in there and line it up. No biggie.
Edit: oh, you caught it. :)

Thank you Eric, A mechanic that does windows! A struggle at best is opened up for the adventurous. Door cables and glass stuck to the frame are fine if the motor has a weak enough clutch that inst already seized up. If the glass is not moving holding or not stopping the auto open button might be costly.

Oh man, I just did that job on my fusion. Kicked my butt a little. Wish I saw this first! I am left with that problem where 14. 267% of the time the auto up gets to one inch and retracts. Thank you for learning me up on the auto learn. I thought I needed to replace the window run for binding.

I had to replace my window regulator on my F150. Pretty simple job. Scared the heck out of me when the window regulator broke. I thought someone shot my window or threw a rock. One thing I didn't have was those handy dandy little suction cups. I used a block of wood to hold up the window.

You are soooo correct. society has too much sand in their manginas anymore! SMH. We should just worry about ourselves, and be kind to others. I think we are doomed as a society. Just keep on with the great videos, so when the zombie apocalypse kicks off we can cobble stuff together: )

Attention to detail perfect work and determination to get it done right is all you Eric, well done on the patience Sir what a frustrating relearn procedure. But the outcome was perfect and we all learned something from this.

And I think a lot of us saw the missing rivet. Thinking about it, I bet it is just there to locate the reel during assembly. Once the three motor screws are in, clam-shelling the reel to the motor, that rivet ain t doing much. But glad you caught it.
