It's interesting to see the car with the wheel on the right(I am from China, and driver is on the left) my girlfriend just got this car, not the exact model though, she s got the t3. the ride tends do get bumpy when the road condition is not ideal. on highway though, this little car is way more capable than what i have expected. I honestly thought the 150 hp engine would be wimpy, but when I stepped on the gas, the turbo engine did not hesitate to supply me with more than ample power. And my girlfriend loves those dial buttons, she has the propensity to memorize others' number and finds it handy. all in all, a fabulously designed small car packed with an awesome engine.

I don't think it's appropriate compare it to other crossover because it's basically just a hatchback, it's like comparing the Vauxhall Adam Rocks with an Audi Q2 because it has some beefy body cladding.
The only problems I have with my v40 is that the front passenger seat has really awkward footwells so it's a little uncomfortable, the rear windows and the cupholders in the front. I also think the infotainment is good however a little bit confusing, I think it's a little bit like a pretty release demo version of Idrive but it definitely not low Def in my opinion

You said the fuel consumption is not what the manufacturers claim well manufacturers are not allowed to claim fuel consumption figures! As you should know it's what the government claim when it goes through their standard fuel consumption tests. It is just a figure to compare one car to another that's all. However 70 + miles per gallon is very possible, I did it myself but I don't expect a motoring journalist to get that, and current traffic situations are not favourable either! The V40 roots go back to 2004 and not being like the hideous mini is very nice indeed. -

Tell me Mat what is this fetish regarding water bottles that every car reviewer has? Followed by the equally strange obsession with cup holders. I've never found the need to store plastic water bottle or to have drinks slopping around the cabin. It seems that a car can be the most perfect combination of engine, body and price and be totally rubbish if a plastic bottle doesn't fit in the door.

The gearbox should not be that slow in normal -D- mode.
I have the 8-speed mated to our v40 T5 and I feel that the -D- mode
is veeery responsive and fun, sport is just annoying because it just hold the
RPMs too high for driving with any traffic.
Sure if you're out on a country road and you're all alone the sport is just fine, but
the car doesn't really shine on those roads anyways.

This guys such a kn#b he gave the Ford Mustang a hard time, I bought one and it-s brilliant who cares about a little hard plastic! I-ve just bought a nearly new Volvo V40 CC at half the original price, just over a year old, because if this guy hates it I-ll love it,
Nice reviews Matt I know you-re probably not a kn#b in real life but you sure come of as one in your vids

The V40 was an idea that got too inspiring and came out not the smartest thing coming from Volvo. It's like it's created from brainstorming drunks where no idea was a bad idea. And they still havn't recovered from the hangover hence still on the market.
And I love Volvo. But there's so much that could've been done better with this one. It feels rushed.

Just got one of these on loan while mine's being serviced. I was amazed how little headroom there is in it. I'm 5 11- and even with the seat fully down, my head is touching the roof. Also, my S40's nav can be controlled by buttons on the back of the steering wheel. It's brilliant. I don't know why Volvo stopped that.

Sort of considering the T4 AWD model of this as I'm really fed up with getting stuck in the snow, but don't want nor need a large car. Still not convinced by the 2008-style black and white screen, infotainment etc. I drive a 2012 V60 at work and really don't like it, I had hoped this would be better.

I've owned one for just over a year. Lovely car. Visibility is reduced, was a bit annoying and took a while to get used to, but it's just for safety purposes. This car is a tank. I had the D2 model manual, and it was a lovely, safe car. Highly recommended for your wife or daughter for example.
