This is the all new Volvo XC40. It-s the smallest SUV that Volvo makes - and possibly the most eye-catching. Is this the most desirable Volvo ever? I get behind the wheel to find out if it has the substance to match the style

Hello Carwow,
Unfortunately I have to correct you, around 5: 30 you mentioned that the XC40 are 100% Volvo, but that is not true. The platform, electronics and a lot other stuff were being developed by CEVT. Sure, they're also placed in Gothenburg, Sweden and has a lot of former Volvo engineers in it, but it's still not Volvo but a sister company. I would know, I work at CEVT and was part of the development: )

I just went yesterday to try it out after visiting VW / Seat / BMW / Toyota / Audi and it was surpisingly good. As a 196 cm tall guy it was by far the best SUV on comfort level but also felt great on quality and what was also surprising is that the base version just lacks some features of the Rdesign which I sure won't use so base version is still great for me. that here is my next car gents.

The blind spot is quite bad but there is blis in the wing mirrors to show you where there is something in your blind spot also the thing in front of the armrest is a bin that you can remove and empty also you didn-t mention the wireless phone charging or the clever airwoofer instead of the normal subwoofers you-d get in any other cars that-s why you have massive door bins

Volvo is a chic make now. Please no more Volvo is boring or boxy or conservative or other well outdated notions. The SPA and this CMA Volvos are now chic alternative-Euro cars. Viewed that way, they're worth a look. Please don't compare them to the serious Germans, Volvo has a different philosophy and execution. Some of it overlaps with Germans, some depart.

why do all cars today seem to take on the shape of a shoe? there's no unique shapes anymore because they all have that same rounded clog design. Awful. I remember when the Volvo truy stood out but this although not utterly awful as such to look at, is still pretty much like every other car these days. Same with how Land Rover has now gone this way

Why aren-t car manufacturers using transparent materials for the back column areas. as in modern cars looking out the back window by turning your head is absolutely useless. there is no expcuse for cars to not have the necessary technology in them such as rear view camera and proximity sensors.

Mat cone on get with it. The gear thing. Say you start in N. Push forward to drive. then you will have to pull or push twice to get into the opposite direction as the first push puts you into N again the second push puts you into drive or reverse depending on which you want.

It looks like it's about the same size as a Kia Soul turbo. Please stop sharing your old-man-propaganda. Everyone else would easily be programmed on the shifting requirements of their new car they just bought and would easily change without a thought.

I own a well-maintained 1997 Volvo 850 and people love the damn thing. It-s been described as -so uncool that it-s cool-. I guess it-s unconventional to see a 26 year old driving an old man-s estate.
Shame it-s so heavy on bloody fuel.
