I have just traded in my 2016 Peugeot 3008 Alure for a Kia Sportage 2. Both WERE 1. 6 Automatic diesels.
The acceleration from a stop is much better on the Kia, one alway had to take care pulling away from a junction in the 3008. The fuel consumption is much better in the Kia. The door pockets were much bigger in the 3008and I would say they are por in the Kia, hardly big enough for sunglasses and a packet of tissues. Generally, the 3008had more useful storage space. I really miss the heads up displa of the 3008, I believe Peugeot have dropped in on the 2020 models anyway.
I disagree strongly with the comment about the Kia's steering compared to the 3008. It was immediately noticeable the! ia is much, much lighter to steer and the pick up speed was much better.
My wife found the seats much more comfortable in the Kia. I don't like the speed and cruise control adjusters on the Kia while it seems better on the steering wheel rather than a stalk in practice Ifound then difficult, temperamental to use and locate while driving. the Peugeot was a much better position and far more positive.
I found the Kia much easier to drive but, unexplainable, not so good on visibility. It as a spare wheel instead of a repair pump thingy but that does not seem to reduce the load space. There are a few better driving / driver aids in the Kia such as better climate control, hill start and down hill retardation, heated seats. I am not sure about Stop Start I don't think it has worked yet. Having said that the 3008 and my previous Qashai rarely worked after 12 months.
The spec on the Kia says it has no front parking sensors. which seems ludicrous. the rear view camera assist is better than the 3008.
So, overall the Kia is better, but I do miss some of the features the 3008 had or were better.

I-ve been driving a brand new 71 reg Sportage for a week. Some points to make- some of the plastics are cheap and tacky, the inside door handle to open the door is borderline flexible. Like a McDonald-s spoon. The plastic on the gear knob is horrible and cheaper than a happy meal toy. The gloss black plastics on the steering wheel/dash/infotainment will scratch in no time. Why have they put the same gloss black on the inside door handles where you pull the door closed? Rings/fake nails will ruin it in no time. The ride is jittery on poor surfaces, crashy over bumps, suspension too firm for a family car. Not bad if it handled well but it doesn-t. Never had to make so many steering inputs in a car. Lane assistance is almost dangerous. Being pulled towards the central white line in the dark. Very poor. Good points- auto dimming headlights are great, infotainment with Apple car play is great, lots of gadgets.

There's 2 things dont like about this car, 1st its the name its just to confusing the name reads Sportage but pronounced sportarge, why didnt Kia just name it sportarge With an R instead of a silent one? Does having an arge in the name suggest its superior like ex UKIP leader Nigel Farage (fararge) The second thing i dont like about this car my neighbors brought one from new a few months back and he hardly uses it maybe once a fortnight if that as he uses his motorbike to get around instead Why would anyone spend over 26k on a car and leave it parked up using valuable car parking space in my street where i cant even find space for my fiat 500 ( the politics of envy )

I liked your review, but I wish you wouldn't metion other car brands to suggest a better version becasue it gets confusing, we are fully inmersed in the sportage while learng about Sportgage we generally don't want hear about other videos. Good review overall. Thank you! _ I'm still left wondering about road handling and speed (how long does it take to reach 60 MPH? _ How does the transission feel, did it skip at all? these are all questions I still have about this vehicle and will have to watch other videso to find out. _ What about your final recommedatio? do you like it better than the Tucson? _ again, these are all questions that still remain.

We have a 2016 Tucson, and a 2017 Sportage, the 1. 6T in the Tucson has been fine so far, 43, 000 miles. I got the Sportage with about 54, 000 and we don't drive far, thanks to demonrat supported Wuhan virus we don't drive for vacations, or take any. But, the 2. 4L Theta II engine is using 1/2 qt of oil in around 1000 miles. Don't buy anything with the Theta family engines, that's the 2. 0L and 2. 4L. They can catch fire. self destruct, and consume oil, and it'll be up to how reputable the dealer is to cover the warranty. And do get your oil changed by Kia/Hyundai to ensure you have the engine warranty.

Just had the misfortune of having to drive one of these Sportages from Southampton to Newcastle. It was all Enterprise rent a car had available.
Absolutely gutless engine, couldn't get comfortable in it. my back is still aching!
It doesn't like cross winds at motorway speeds and the steering needs constant input to keep it in a straight line.
A complete barge. avoid at all costs.

Can someone explain why the Kia Sportage is the only vehicle I repeatedly see on UK roads at dusk or dark with the front lights fully on and the rear lights off. Even when it is totally dark, I see no rear lights on. Not every Sportage, but quite a lot of them - maybe 5 or 6 in every 10. This is a dangerous design fault and needs to be looked into.

The software is terrible, warnings for low tyre pressure is wrong/misleading, startup screen annoying (drive carefully) - just irritating. The automatic gearbox has you fighting the car, it wants to decelerate when you want the opposite and vice versa. And fuel consumption is less than 28 miles per gallon!

We get it the CX5 is the car of the gods while the sportage is a poor mans cayenne. You all need to get some NEW material. You find the most absurd things to complain about and curious things to overlook on your favorite models. I have the SX and test drove many cx5s and tuscons. didnt like them.

Lovely frontal design. but too long for the city traffic. and for parking. on the other hand. Much more horse power would be much desired especially on the motorways for the drivers like me. thanks for your detailed and impressive narration. ck. Azlaga Hopa ms 337
