Say hello to the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT! Mat s flown over to Austria to get up close and personal with the new GT 63, and he s about to take you on a tour of this all-new super sports car! Regarding the design, the GT is based on the AMG SL. Around the rear are some similarities to the SL, such as the black glossy trim on the bumper and the diffuser - although the GT s diffuser is more complex than that on the SL! Along the sides, the doors have been smoothed compared to the old GT, and it also comes with flush door handles. Up top, the GT is equipped with AMG s Panamericana Grille and there s a pair of air intakes under the headlights. Step inside and the most notable thing is that the GT is now a four-seater! Sure, it s pretty cramped in the back but gone are the days when the standard GT was only available with 2 seats. Elsewhere, the interior is pretty similar to the SL. It comes with the same seats, as well as the same infotainment set-up and digital dials. It also comes with a glass roof! Then we come to the engine, and under the bonnet, you ll find a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can deliver 585hp and 800Nm! Moreover, there s no hybrid technology to be found here - the all-new GT is 100% petrol-powered! We don t know the price yet, but you can guarantee it s likely to be relatively similar to the SL, and when you consider the AMG SL 63 costs over 171, 000, it s unlikely to come cheap! But will it be worth it? You ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

I hope i won t upset some people here,
Imho; the car design is a rip-off i mean
Z4 front lights with frontal bumper similar to Nissan new Z
Side front fender is the new GR 86
Front lip active aero of a turbo S
I m big fan of the previous model btw and i get why the designer (i assume he s newely employed) wants to attract new market for this model although he/she shouldn t.
If i were with them i will differentiate the model further if i m using the same chassis blending the SLS timeless deisgn with the model even further, put an option of deleating the rear seats which will help many of target buyers of this model specific.
Rear design looks fat and busy. I salute the manager for answering Matt and have an open minded mentality (which is a big plus for managers nowadays)

I wasn't a huge fan of the previous GT's looks, but this new one looks immense. But for a sports car, it's one hell of a heavy beast (over 1900kg. Or is it now a Grand Tourer to reflect its name and, now, the extra rear seats. But isn't the SL the Grand Tourer even though it's name suggests otherwise? Or are they now both the same cars, just different names for the coupe and convertible.

This is definitely better looking than the fairly ugly SL. It's no beauty queen, but it is a step up.
Mercedes seems to put much more effort into the appeal of the AMG GT than the SL
The Mercedes SL used to be a great brand, now its not. Mercedes doesn't seem to care
Basically, this video is all about how the SL sucks, and how this is much better.

Nice car, but I'll take the 911 TTS. The AMG will probably depreciate like throwing a rock out the window of a tall building. Matt, you could add the rock out the window to your videos. You don't even need to give me credit for the idea. Matthias is a good sport and also helped make the video more enjoyable.

That car looks awesome! Thanks for changing the look of the SL front and back end to the good! And with rear seats and a massive boot for this segment plus AWD this is the jack of all trades! I just wish there would be a roadster version coming up as well in the coming years. Keep it up AMG!

AWESOME car love it - such a great design also in the back the lift gate / hatchbacky, looks so good. It reminds me. good old times. If I would lease it for a while, I would take it over a 911, if I would buy it for my grandkids as a keeper - a 911

Ok this was awesome: D The way how he handled Mat's honesty. I wish every car maker would do this. Congrats Mercedes and congrats AMG for a great car and even greater public relations stuff. Now. Can I have the car? Or the SL please? (:

Bit disappointed in this car. As soon as I heard it was based on the SL, 4 seats and 4matic, it last all potential to be a great car. And the weight. Just call it an SL with performance package or something like that.

Matt is so good at testing these executives and managers - he is the king at asking and arguing the best points. Basically always takes the mick of the options packs etc. Love matt so much for this. What a journalist

Please thank the gentleman from AMG for clarifying you are basically introducing a completely different and much more expensive car, based on the GT's platform. I look forward to seeing the actual base car.

RIP SLS Amg and Amg GT. This new car is heavier and more regular looking than those two. Sad that they made it bigger and gave it AWD. Is this not an aluminium chassis anymore like the current car?

I wasn't a big fan of the predecessor but ACTUALLY ( ) this is a nice looking car. I wouldn't opt the fixed wing though it ruins the sleek line and doesn't look as elegant as a Mercedes should

Gorgeous car ant a GREAT improvement. I also like the move over to more luxury. It was never beating the 911 at the sports car game. Give me fast luxury and this nail it! Love it

BBC should enlist Mat and and let s say. James Clark, Product manager at Vauxhall and give Top Gear another go. But then again, would they gain anything from it other than fame?
reply

Absolutely gorgeous car! A worry update of the previous generation. Looks so nice! This will sell really good I m sure! Especially with the all wheel drive now.
reply

I would still choose 911 turbo s. Alot lighter (1. 6ton, 10 piston calipers, active spoiler, and most of all the interior! Fast buttons is important when you are driving.
reply

Idk the front end looks very soft for a sports car, it might be the bubbly looking headlights, but the rear end is beautiful! It looks much better than the previous gen.

The guy has the Arnold Schwarzenegger accent if you listen carefully Awesome car though, looks epic and handy. I would have wished a 100 or 200 more horses though

0: 28 Viewed like this and also from behind, to me it looks more like a Porsche than a Mercedes. The front, which I never liked, it also seems to me always the same.
