Here it is, the ultimate posh saloon group test! The A6, 5 Series and E-Class are established as the class leaders to beat when it comes to executive mid-size saloons. But with seemingly so little between them, which one stands out from the crowd? And should these German powerhouses be worried by the all-new Lexus ES? Stick with Mat for his latest group test, and let us know which one you-d choose in the comments below!

I own the new A6 so am not saying this a biased owner of a Lexus, or I did until some little pricks stole my 55TFSI last week: ( But an important factor is that every single year in virtually every country Lexus consistently beat all of the German brands for reliability. You will rarely, if ever see one broken down at side of road. Jaguar you are just waiting for that to happen and wonder if today is the day each time you start engine. German brands sitting in the middle with many cheaper brands out performing them. BMW seem to have done best out of them, with the winner of this test performing quite badly. I do add though never had a single mechanical issue with mine - had from new and 13 months old when stolen.

Yes for the BMW three series is just a bit too small the BMW seven series but is it to the Bend with Reese is basically like an iPhone 12 The BMW seven series is basically like the iPad Pro because it-s massive it-s luxurious so nice but the five series is perfect for it is it too big like that you get with the Seven series the seven series is just too big the staffing is as big as a limousine Three series is just too small not quite as big the five series is perfect size perfect luxury perfect price you be happy getting a five series well if you-re super rich and you want to get a luxury limousine get the five series or just go to Mercedes and pick up the more luxurious S class

Guys, I used to be a big fan of matt watson but after this video Im not going to consider anything he say. Because I have tried all of these models and lexus is the best out of them. At some point he is even complaing ama lexus rear seats not folding. Because rear seats are electric controlled and adjustable and this is the only car at it-s segment. He is not even mentioning this. Either he is getting paid from german brands or he is too lazy to go on details on this video. Also driving is even better than bmw. Zero noise inside the cabin. I was so disturbed by the tire noise in bmw 5 series. It was 19 inch alloy wheels and almost as the same noise as fiat

I don't think it's for me to criticize cars I cannot afford right now, but it really grinds my gears how most of the luxury cars are going for solely digital dashboard. Especially the Mercedes. It may fit the aesthetics of Audi and BMW, but the Mercedes? I am not so sure.
Maybe if they provided us with the option to choose between the digital and classic analogue? (maybe they do and I am simply not aware of it? I am sure I am not buying an E-class level car in the next 10 years probably, xD)

Lexus ftw, way more reliable and authentic, the interior can look way better than the one in this video, the sound dampening option makes it way better than the standard, sound system is amazing, you can have it with hybrid and it's still cheaper than the Germans whips bring way more reliable you buy a Lexus to own for 30 years unlike the Germans where leasing for 3, 4 years is the best option cuz it will break and it will cost you money

The a6 dashboard creaks and rattles like no other car I have ever owned. 60k for a 55 TFSI and creaks more than a 10k rental car. Was okay when bought it, but the horrific road surfaces in Birmingham have bought about a suite of irritating creaks. For this money unacceptable really. I would bet money that this would not happen with the Lexus.

I love all the 3 German competitors. But the prices in America for parts are just UNACCEPTABLE.
What is Also UNACCEPTABLE- is how often they break down. LEXUS- reliability is through the roof.
Why not mention this AT ALL?
The German car parts are 4. 5 times more expensive than the Lexus in Canada and America.

The 5 series interior quality is a joke, the buttons and the dashboard feels cheap and not well made, the seat is less comfy than competitior, the interior isnt felt luxurious compared to the other, the overall build quality is questionable for the price they asked. Better go with other brand.

Drove the A6 a few days ago. Wonderful and engaging driver, however the 2021 dual-screen interior configuration is (IMHO) absolutely awful. It-s distracting and dangerous. I-ve never been so excited and so disappointed in a 20 minute span. Driving the 5 series and E class this weekend.

Matt I would have to agree with you. The Audi A6 is the best in this segment. I'm starting to like all of Audi's approaches to cars in the last 3-4 years! I will say the Infotainment and the Driver Instrument Cluster (Audi's Virtual Cockpit) is second to none!
