VW Golf R 2021 review: see how quick it really is 0-60mph!

Introducing the all-new Volkswagen Golf R! Mat-s finally got his hands on VW-s latest hot hatch to see if the Golf R really is the ultimate car for grown up boy racers. Given it-s a hot hatch, the first thing we need to investigate is the performance! Under the bonnet, you-ll find a 2-litre turbocharged engine (the same as in the Mk7-, although this time it-ll produce 320hp and 420Nm of torque, while also being able to hit 60mph in 4. 7 seconds. So the performance stats are ok, but do we really think it-s worth the approximate -40, 000 price tag? And more importantly, will Mat be able to beat the claimed 0-60mph time? You know

Watching this vid again.
I really like it, despite the AX. Rear seat room is good. Typical VW uses foam soft touch, so the plastic. lowered the price. Trunk big enough for two 12- subs. MT is available for me in US. Put that sandpaper tape on the pedals. It's a transversely-mounted engine, thus is FWD biased. It uses a Magna rear diff. It can send up to 50% power to the rear and up to 100% of that can be sent to one rear wheel for active torque vectoring. HOWEVER, without the drift mode turned on, I wonder how much power really goes back there. Maybe do a vid of it on a dyno that can measure wheel torque/HP to each wheel. ? damn. the performance is crazy.

Seriously Matt, you only keep the cars for a few hours. It-s no wonder you want a more hard edge driving experience.
Also you must be a bit immature if you spend more time playing with the infotainment rather than driving the car. Personally once the settings are setup I don-t really fidget with it too much - Next you will tell us it-s an unbiased review, right?
#You are losing your edge, get it together and enough with the teenage boy innuendos!

The engines are good, the bodies are rust buckets unfortunately. Ever since the golf mk5. Almost all of them rust in the sideskirt area as they use hollow sideskirts to save on costs. Then they have the nerve to charge 25-50k+ for this POSes, lmfao. I'd rather buy a Seat, they don't rust in the sideskirt area and are cheaper. I guess VW makes only bio degradeable cars, only good for 8-10years before they start rotting away.

Did my master's thesis on diffusers and just by pure intuition, it doesn't look like it would have any significant improvement on the car's downforce or drag, it's just too small. However I can't be 100% sure unless you run some cfd, wind tunnel or flow vis experiments -

Holy bananas! Now I wonder how quick the 6 speed manual would be if you were a good shifter? certainly not quite as quick, but still what fun it would be to go that fast. That's faster than an old school big block muscle car.

USA model gets leather seats with heated and cooled seats, three zone climate system for the front and back, sunroof, and a manual.
Take that Europe.
You still get the R Wagon so screw you guys lmao

No manual? No point-
Anyway, couldn-t stand the capacitive interior on any Volkswagens. At least Honda is still headed in the right direction with their Civic.
RIP VW

Why was there no drift mode test? I was waiting for it the whole video. Anyway, a lovely car, watching the reviews made me want it. Definitely the best hot hatch at the moment.

like the seat leon, the design of this has regressed from the older version. might be technically better, but exterior look and -plasticy- interior just looks cheap and tacky.

These VW R and GTI are way over priced.
Who wants a racing car with a conventional boring shell of a car body and pay a f. cking fortune for it?
Only dumb Asses.
