New Tesla Model 3 v Old Model 3 - DRAG RACE

Thanks to Richard for lending us these cars - When it comes to the Tesla Model 3, it doesn-t get any better than the Model 3 Performance. The question is, how much difference do you get in performance between the new and old editions? When you look at the stats, you might find this an odd drag race. Because even though these are two different editions of the same car, their stats are seemingly identical! They-re both powered by dual electric motors, and they both produce 457hp & 660Nm. Not only that, but they both weigh 1844kg, and they both cost just over -56, 000 when new! So what do you think - surely the newer Model 3 has to snatch the win, right!

Hate the Pzeros. They were garbage on my Audi in -2010, they were garbage on my BMW in 2015, and they are proving to still be garbage in 2021 on my Model 3 Performance. Kills me, as I just sold my Dual Motor non-Performance Model 3 which I had put Michelin PS4's on. They were excellent. Now I've purchased a brand new Model 3 Performance and it comes with inferior tires. I'll be grinding them into dust as quickly as possible and switching back to PS4s.

After watching V8 supercars today i realised that if i had a chouce between the worlds slowest car tgat sounded amazing and had a soul or the worlds quickest car that had amazing tech didnt have a sound at all. id choice the slow one. at least i could enjoy it wothout doing something illegal. i could simoly enjoy it idling in my driveway

It's all about reaction time, nothing else. When you watch the start sequences in slow motion, the old model always took off a little earlier than the new model. You should have swapped the drivers of the cars for a real comarison.
But still interesting to see how close they both are

The old Model 3 has a 74kWh battery, not 75. It's printed right on the pack.
But you didn't say how much charge each car's battery had. It makes a difference and common knowledge that a Tesla with 100% state of charge is quicker than the same Tesla with 50% state of charge.

So Tesla are basically using new parts which are most likely cheaper and returning a greater profit for them. Old car is faster.
Sounds like your typical -new and improved recipe- which always means we are using cheaper ingredients to give us a greater margin.

So I didn-t go through all the comments. This may have already been asked. How did the two cars batteries perform against each other as far as loss after each sequential race? The old M3P was slightly quicker but didn-t use more battery than the newer one?

Forget the race do we ignore the fact that Matt just got disrespectfully creepy about the race girl, realized he went Saiyan super creep then tried to walk it back even going so far as to putting the onus on himself to save face. or no?

This was interesting and thanks for the video. Car and Driver actually found the newer Model 3 Performance to be faster vs the 2018 model. One thing is for certain, the Pirelli Summer tires are crap vs the Pilot Sport 4S tires.

I think the issue might be the combination of different tires and a wet surface. The Michallen probably have a bit better wet traction than the thinner perellies.
Also I refuse to spell those names right

Matt you need to inflate your tires properly. Tesla recommends 42-44 PSI and you got 37-40. Pirelli tires suck. I already got 2 side bubbles the first week and they still refuse to replace them.
