My brother-in-law had both, which is what it comes down to:
Rs6: aggressive exterior aesthetics. performance and very good feel, but limited passenger comfort, car pushes to crime and too much jerkiness. Selfish car.
M550i: rather wise exterior design even if we notice the length of the unusual car. powerful but linear (a bit too much, but exceptional comfort and very well equipped. On the other hand, the comfort of the middle passenger in the back is completely null, 2h00 of road a hell.

Bmw look all the same, basic cars, Audi is by far better looking, can-t wait for the upcoming sport car of Audi, i owned the bmw M5 competion and i have to be honest it does not worth the 145000$, got my self the Audi Rs6 since May and so far it so worth it, got it for cheaper and the sensation you get when you drive it is so unique. Performance + price can-t you will not find better

I don't really see the point of cars like a BMW M550i. A 530e is a way more sensible choice and if you want the fastest and something special you go M5. The M550i feels like it only exists for people who actually want an M5 but cannot afford it. Same goes for cars like a Audi S6 etc, get the RS6 or go for a regular sensible version.

That's basically like the new golf R keeping up with the a45s. Yeah it's down on power but it's still in your back bumper the whole time which makes it satisfying for the guy in the lesser car and incredibly frustrating for the guy in the better car.
I'd still rather have the RS6 than a 550i for sure.

Depreciation of the 550i vs RS6 is day and night difference! You literally lose 60%of the 550i within a 2 years NOBODY want this car for ordinary people too dare to run and buy people with the money rather buy M5. Its a financial disaster

My verdict:
Both are close to 2 tonnes.
Therefore I don't wanna go sideways in one of those and rather put shed loads of holiday stuff in the boot and enjoy top speed autobahn cruzing. and RS6 is an icon.
That 550i has no point really.

I believe this was done before the BMW OTA update that fixed the timing issue which was not making the car go as fast as it should. I would love to see how this comparison would look like after the update!

I wish this was done in dry conditions. The RS6 even beat the E63 and M5 in wet conditions, but then got beat handily in dry-Audi AWD system is better in wet.
