I'd like it to be a 4 cylinder rather than a 3. Also more power around 310 - 350 hp and AWD. If they used the 3 cylinder on the gr yaris then it'll just be a bigger, slower and heavier gr yaris. I want Toyota to be a little more serious with this corolla, something that would compete with the best hot hatches like the type r. Though it might be a bit more expensive, you'll still get more for your money. They could also remove the expensive materials like carbon fiber and not develop a new body like the gr yaris to make it a bit more affordable. I don't want Toyota to go lazy with this car and just put a gr yaris engine on it.

Why not adapt the 2. 0 Corolla's engine that makes 169 and build it to take forced induction along with the transmission as well(I figure this is obligatory)Yes it would be easy to adapt a 1. 6T I3 into the car but I'm thinking if you want compete, why handicap it? Use the I4 from the Supra and call it a day. As much as the 1. 6T I3 in a Yaris sounds fun, I'd hate to see the Corolla get one. Toyota has been half assing their sports cars/semi sports line up for too long and this time around they can't pull any punches.

All for it i had a Corolla gti in the 90's and it was bulletproof if a little underpowered overall.
According to Scotty Kilmer Toyota is going south in the states due to cheap production elements to their engines
which are genuinely creating reliability issues so they need to get their fingers out because innovation should never be
static. If they price it as generous as the Yaris i'm sure it would fly off the shelves worldwide.

If I could buy any car, only one, (which I won't, I only buy used cars) it would be a Toyota GR Corolla when it comes out. If they show up as rentals anywhere, or car shares, this would be the one I would drive for a fun day on the road. So yeeeeeessss! They don't make the Volvo C30 anymore, and this would be the closest thing. Currently I drive the wagon version of that car and loooooove it.

I think everything points to the GR Corolla using the same AWD system as the GR Yaris. It should also make a bit more power and torque from the three cylinder engine to account for the slight increase in weight. It'll be quicker than the Yaris. That AWD system is how Toyota will separate it from cars like the GTI, Veloster N, and Civic Type R.

Being from Canada, I-m hoping for an AWD GR Corolla, not because of the snow. I daily my -13 FRS year round and it-s a blast in the snow. But because the GR Yaris is such a special car that is unavailable in our part of the world. And 4 doors would make it easier to carry the 2 kids. But depending the price, I could be upgrading to the GR86.

I think Toyota sees there chance to make an insane hatch after noticing Hyundai drop the Veloster. Ford has given up on that dream a while ago too. Sad since the Focus ST and RS were so awesome. We need another crazy fast hatch to hit the market to compete with VW because they are the only ones still making fast fun hatches.

I bought the missus the 2020 Corolla ZR (top of range in Australia) last year. Only disappointment is that its an auto. Manual was on base model only. I am currently driving a 1999 AE112R Corolla Levin 5 speed. Still goes like a dream. I would definitely look at getting the GR Corolla especially if it is manual.

Its a great idea but its past its time. Its better to ask Toyota for a six speed manual hybrid like the Honda CRZ. Its not like the car culture of the past as Petrolheads are a shrinking cohort and manufacturers plan to stop making combustion engine cars in 10 - 15 years.

Hi mate. I have been offered the 1. 8 icon tech as a company car. i can drive up to 500 mile round trips. can it overtake with ease? whats the max speed etc. im not a speed freak but drive between 75 and 82 ish. I could get the 2 litre but its 80 pounds more a month.
