Toyota Yaris Cross 2022 in-depth review

Introducing the all-new Toyota Yaris Cross! It-s a small SUV version of the regular Toyota Yaris, and Mat-s on hand to find out if this crossover has what it takes to stand out from the crowd against competitors like the Peugeot 2008 and Volkswagen T-Cross! In terms of the design, it-s no surprise that it looks a whole lot similar to the regular Yaris. Sure it-s jacked up and comes equipped with bigger body panels, but the overall look shares a whole load of similarities with the regular small car. It-s the same story on the inside, too, with the same infotainment system and digital dials display as you-d find in the normal Yaris. When it comes to performance, there-s only one engine to choose from - a 1. 5-litre 3 cylinder engine that-s also equipped with a self-charging hybrid system that can deliver 114hp & 120Nm of torque. It starts from -22, 500, but should you really consider the Yaris Cross over its key rivals?

Toyota hybrids are designed to give the driver maximum control over the vehicle, including driving dynamics, and this is ultimately the purpose of the -D- and -B- modes that sometimes confuse clients. Put simply, the -D- mode is for normal driving, and -B- mode should be used when you are going downhill. -
Why does a hybrid need to two separate modes for driving and going downhill? When driving down a steep, continuous grade, especially one with curves, you will use the brakes frequently. The -B- mode in our Hybrid vehicles changes handling to give you better control in this situation.

This is the car you end of buying, after spending years of getting a sports car: -)
Saying that
1. 4 wheel drive, whilst I-d argue a bit pointless in the UK - not like you are going to actually take it off road - it does appeal to the irrational petrolhead side of me - did I hear -limited slip diff!
2. Hybrid - yes, we all love the environment
3. A rare SUV that looks better than the normal car it-s based on.
After 2 years of the mk8 fiesta at - it-s time to engage -midlife-

ExxonMobil, Chevron and Toyota accused of obstructing climate change action
The world's biggest oil and car firms are accused of lobbying governments to block action on climate change. And industry lobby groups like the Minerals Council and peak gas body, the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association, are also named and shamed for thwarting policies to tackle global warming. Dont confuse this English version. With the one in the states. They are different looking it seems unless the 2023 looks similar? At first glance I thought, wow looks better than the 1st year entry level one, then seen it was overseas. I hope the next year or next model change has the rounder look like this.

I-ve just collected my wife-s Yaris Excel a week ago. We love it so much I-ve just test driven and ordered a Yaris Cross for delivery October. I also test drove the Corolla but didn-t like it after owning my Skoda Yeti. Too low and too sporty firm ride in the GR model trim.

I'm in Canadastan, and was looking forward to this car coming across the pond, but from what I see I am really happy that won't reach my side of the pond, as from what I see, I'm not impressed at all. Thanks for the great review just the same!

Hi, in Australia this car currently has no centre console armrest on any variant - and the top spec 'Urban' also has an ugly brown interior. For us that was a deal breaker. I hope in 2022, we get a Yaris cross with an armrest and a better interior.

Mat had reviewed the Yaris hatchback also sometime ago. It had such a bad build on the outside that you could dent it with a small hit and when closing the door it made sound of metal. Is the build quality similar on this Yaris Cross also?

I wish Suzuki'd offer a Jimny with this power train and 5 doors. That'd be PERFECT and actually certifiable for europe as an SUV. I figure ergonomics even in Jimny dominate this Yarris by a mile. + Yarris just looks hideous

1: 04 the black cladding part is for safety when the car gets hit from the rear it will take the force and also for saving your money when you get small knock from cars from the rear when there is slow traffic.
