It's just not good enough. It's a list of compromises with only the handling and X Mode sitting as plus points.
There are a dozen better and/or cheaper electric crossovers than this, not least of which is the Ioniq 5 which is two generations better at least.
Toyota put the least amount of work and money into this (they actually outsoursed most of it to BYD in China) that they could. It's a compliance car for European markets.
Compare it to the Koreans. Compare it to the upcoming Arya. Mustang Mache E. Enyaq.

I can't help but feel that this car seems to translate the general attitude of Japanese companies that are slow and reluctant to adopt change, quite the opposite of the South Korean companies' attitude and mentality toward embracing change and be bold in the new approach. A far cry from Toyota from a decade ago. I will stick my lookout to Hyundai, KIA, and other European carmakers I think.

I think in terms of the design, I actually like it. In comparison with Hyundai Ioniq 5 that supposed to be SUV that looks like a big hatchback rather than SUV and Kia EV6 that sort of blurring SUVs design, this is like the current crossover design, so not that bad.

Mat was paid to do this review it seems, almost no negatives. He actually said that the quality of the interior is nice? On any other car you would've scratched your nails off to prove how plasticy they are

The charging is a joke the styling it s polarising and a lack of rear wiper in rainy Britain unforgivable, I can t but feel that this is a begrudgingly made compliance car that doesn t excel at anything

If only the interior of this was like the 2005-2011 Yaris with 3 rather large storage compartments, 2 storage compartments that I use as cup holders and a few extra storage areas throughout.

Is the heat pump equipped as standard in all models? Would its use make any difference when it comes to energy consumption compared to other electric cars? It would be interesting to see that.

Great review as usual. Glad you got to drive one. My dealer contacted my last month to say they had a car, then a letter from Toyota said do not let anyone near this car - I'm still waiting

You should shortlist this car, but do look at other cars that aren t currently being recalled due to the fact one of the wheels fall off. Quality review again though Matt and team.

Matt. The minute you said no rear windshield wiper i stopped watching. I dont need to know much about a car that you need to bring a damped cloth all the time just to wipe bird poop.
