New BMW M2 review with 0-60mph & auto vs manual!

This is the all-new BMW M2! Mat s headed over to America to get his hands on this all-new sports coupe, and he s about to find out if it s a worthy successor to the previous M2, and whether it can compete with the likes of the Porsche Cayman or even the M3! Well when it comes to the design, it s had a serious overhaul over the regular 2 Series. It s got a large squared kidney grille up front, bulging wheel arches over the side, a carbon fibre roof and quad tailpipes at the back. All-in-all, it s certainly meaner and more aggressive than the regular 2 Series. It s a similar story on the inside, with several changes made over the standard car. As you d expect there s a smattering of M tricolour to be found throughout, a fair bit of carbon fibre, and M-specific digital dial graphics. It also comes with sport bucket seats. Then let s take a look under the bonnet! It comes with the same 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six as found in the M3, but the output has been dialled down slightly, so it ll produce 460hp and 550Nm of torque. This power is delivered to the rear wheels only, and unlike the M3, you can pick the M2 up as either a manual or an automatic! The price starts from around 65, 000, but is it really worth it? There s only one way to find out - stick with Mat for this all-new review!

The car is ugly, also those bumps that should imitate Manual gearbox are somehow missing in the real manual version Why would engineers do this? Jolts from AT is not necessary at all And about less power bring more drivable car Finally BMW engineers realised Just Enough Power gives you a better car than strapping rockets to a shopping cart. M3 used to be a car that any knob could drive daily, now it seems to want to kill the owner and his neighbours as well

Too much for the appearence/look, too little for the performance. Those huge rims are unnecessary and VERY HEAVY (probably for purpose which is. consumerism, those bushes of suspension and dampers shoud be destroyed soon after warranty expire.
By the way. heel and toe is an imbecility for a street car, it overheat and wear the clutch at high rate without any real benefit.

Great review as usual Matt. But really not sure about this one. Was gona get the new M3 but when I saw the looks and the price at launch that put me right off. Been waiting for this. It looks better than the M3\4 IMHO, but still not a massive fan. And again with the price. Thats more than I paid for my F80 M3 new fully optioned up. Think BMW have lost the plot lately.

Have an older M3 myself, which I'm planning to sell soon. Gradually fell out of love with BM. Their design language has just become muddled and cars very ugly. New M2 looks like somebody tried to make a kit car rendition of an M2 on the cheap and got it badly wrong. Love your video's Matt they're always entertaining.

Oh yeah l saw this car on stage one time and for me to get a closer look l jumped on stage and people were just looking at me confused.
However the new bmw 2 series on the stage was a full Manuel a completely Manuel inside so very interesting

Looks better than other recent gopping offerings from BMW. however, it does have a whiff of aftermarket body kit bulges. in a Max Power Halfords styleeeee.
Probably a hoot but I don t think it will age well

I am a big BMW lover. but I don't know why, I feel constantly dragged to Porsche, and all BMW comparisons are with Porsche. maybe porsche is really the next step for a bimmer?

I had the previous gen, loved it, looked amazing. This version looks like they've left the disguising bumpers on that they do when testing it for releasing the car.

Looks the part. Not as keen on the new m3 and the others with the humongous front grills but, this looks cool. Paint and wheels look good.
reply

That front. not sure about that. Looks a bit too American for me. like a Dodge or something. Still I don't have to look at it from the inside.
reply

They managed to make it look old and just not okey its like the front is drawn bye a kid a the back is from older bmw its not nice
reply

Interesting how suddenly everyone barely even mentions the horrible looks. One phone call from bmw saying or else and everyone chickens out.

The last M2 is one of the most beautiful cars out there. This on the other hand. . What were they thinking or, more accurately, smoking?
reply

Amazing power train, but pretty sure not too many people will be happy with the design. The exposed radiator is also very concerning.
reply

For most of history, it was thought to be impossible, but this one makes even the Beemers with massive kidney disease look rather pretty
