This all-new Kia EV6 is coming in hot! This is the EV6 GT, and it s one of the most powerful small EVs you can buy! The question is, can it compete with the Tesla Model 3 Performance? And can it justify the 63, 000 price tag! Well for starters, let s look at what you get over the standard EV6. In terms of the exterior design Well, it s all pretty similar to the standard EV6! Around the back, you ll find a larger roof spoiler, a new rear bumper, and some GT badging. The GT also comes riding on 21 as standard, and it also has a slightly redesigned, more aggressive front end. Otherwise, it s pretty much identical to the normal car! It s a similar story on the inside. There s a fair amount of lime green stitching throughout the cabin, and you ll also find a pair of new sports seats up front. Apart from that, it s the same as the normal EV6 But then again, that s no bad thing! But of course, if you re interested in the EV6 GT, you ll want to know about the motor upgrades! Power output has been boosted pretty significantly, with the EV6 GT producing 585hp and 740Nm - that s 260hp more than the regular dual-motor EV6! The GT edition also comes with bigger brakes and tweaked suspension. The only negative, though, is that it s about 100kg heavier than the regular car, so it tips the scales at 2, 185kg.

I imagine the majority of of those in the comments that lavish praise on this as a car (something they ll never be able to afford) will do the same about their thermal underwear when freezing with no power and how juicy their insect burger when meat is banished. Humans have such potential, sadly most just go with the herd, even when the destination takes them over the edge of a cliff!

Wonder why they don't add an extra gear for motorway cruising speeds. Some manufacturers add an extra gear low down but why not one higher up for better efficiency. EVs are very efficient around town at lower speeds but once you get up to motorway speeds they're not very efficient at all with only having 1 gear, sometimes 2 for those that have the extra low gear for launching.

A vehicle is not just about 0 to 60. Its more of freedom to move around without hiccups.
Not going to be a slave to govt where they can shut down my life under various narratives.
Sorry, i will keep my kizashi till it runs. Also looking to buy a matrix as back up. Not touching a electronic gadgets that WEF can decide when to shut down.

One thing I don't get about electric cars. the torque figures seem ridiculously low. Say an ICE Car makes 500Nm. well it's that X Gear ratio X Diff Ratio? So typically it's easily near 10, 000Nm at the wheels in first gear. Electric cars have no gear box and are direct drive! So 700nm seems inadequate! How do they calculate it?

9: 46 I'm not sure how that comment was made, but obviously it doesn't feel as sporty as a model 3 because the model 3 is a hatchback/liftback and very low to the ground, the only realistic comparison is the model Y as they both have a raised ride height, that's the price you pay for a raised ride height in any car.

Yeah, its fast, and that's basically it. Don't get me wrong, the EV6 is an amazing car(line, but the GT is to expensive for just being a fast car (then again, the direct competition is more expensive if you want the same level of extras that are standard on the GT. I do like the smal design changes done to it.

I'm a fan of Hyundai and Kia but hate electric vehicles period. They have no range, take forever to charge, and as soon as you put one under any type of load they just limp. 0 - 60 is always impressive but that's it. I'll keep my V-8 5. 0 F 150 till some company can give me the tow capacity and range.

And Kia & Hyundai just announced a 2 billion dollar hit to their bottom line from recalls and warranty repair due to quality control. I don t care about the 0-60 time: it s ridiculous to compare these cars to exotics. I saw this car on a lot recently; 57k for an economy car; no thanks

I'm fed up with the fashion of huge wheels & low profile tyres combined with suspension that can't handle our roads. I'd also like to see the EV arms race concentrate on the charging infrastructure instead of 0-60 drag times. I've had an EV for 3 years and the infra is woeful in the UK.

So less interior and storage space than a Model 3 / Y but 200kg heavier? Magic. You'd have to really hate the Tesla to get one of these, and I understand that plenty of people do. It's only 10% cheaper than a Model Y Performance too, not exactly a bargain!

I remember in the 80s, Kia made a rebadged Mazda 121 with whitewall tyres and about 60bhp. If you told me then they would one day make a family hatchback that was quicker to 60mph than a Ferrari F40, I'd have laughed in your face.

I've been waiting forever for this review and if I'm honest I'm disappointed with the GT specs. For the extra 100kg you get rapid and warm bum. That's it.
Race it against the Jag I-pace and Mach-e GT!

While the performance is super impressive, there are going to be a lot of people crashing EV's due to the supercar level torque and acceleration. I have a feeling this will get regulated at some point.

Too heavy, too slow, and not having three pedals it s also too boring.
And it takes to long to fill from empty.
And it doesn t make a wonderful noise.
So explain to me again, exactly WHY?

reply

Are manufacturers not getting to the point, where the cars they are making too powerful and thus wasting electricity? At the end of the day these EVs need charged which is using up resources.
