It s an all-new small electric SUV from the Swedish manufacturers, and we think it may be one of its best releases in year! But what makes it so impressive? Well for starters, let s take a look at the design. Being an all-electric car, there s no grille up front, but the design still reminds us of Volvos from the past. Along the side you ll find a sloping roofline along with bespoke alloy wheel designs that are able to help improve efficiency. And then around the rear there are some well-designed taillights that really help give the car a bit of personality. Step inside and the EX30 is really well designed. Nearly all functionality is housed in the central infotainment screen, which although can be annoying at times, has been done to help keep all wiring in one place to help improve costs. There are soft touch materials throughout most of the car, and the seats are super comfortable. When it comes to performance, there are a couple of editions of the EX30 available. The entry-level car has a 49kWh battery pack and comes with a claimed range of 210 miles. There s then a larger battery edition with two electric motors, with the range topper being the Performance model, which has a range of around 290 miles. And it s not just the range of the Performance model that we re interested in. The two motors combine to produce 28hp and 543Nm of torque! This makes it one of the most powerful Volvos ever produced! So this mini Volvo packs a serious punch, and the price starts at just 34, 000, rising to only 44, 000 for the top-of-the-range edition! Does this therefore make it one of the best Volvos ever? You ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

Heyy Matt, just a quick critique, from my POV - the table you presented was a bit misleading, as it said max hp, max range etc but starting price, maybe input max price as well, or just base stats and base price. Because if like you said you put the 44k pounds it costs, then it would be up with the bmw and not below the rest

Half of Tesla solutions on a half chinese car (almost full, really. Anything new. Even the seats design are quite similar (even Volvo's are much better, as always. I think that fully moving rear view mirrors, instead just the mirror, is a very very bad idea

I'm caught between the EX-30 performance and the Smart #1 Brabus. The carwow reviews on both have been positive and the Smart has the driver display. Mat, if you read this, which do you feel is the better car to drive, especially enthusiastically?

It's clear as day that this car is one big cost cutting exercise. The window switches for the back seats in the middle console is a prime example of that. Also the minimalist handles, reduced switches, etc.

only 3 mins into the video but i gotta say wow the future of driving really is amazing thank god for all the driver assists if the procedure to adjust one of your mirrors distracts you this much!

Looks really promising, but it's really too bad that they put everything in endless sub-menus. Unnecessarily complicated HMI. I hope the EX60 will be a little more traditional with its HVAC, etc. controls.

Speedo is in a ridiculous location, we had this discussion with Volvo, for a car manufacturer that s all about safety this is just daft, look at Matt permanently eyes off the road it s dangerous

Check back mirror & side mirror & fasten your seatbelt & check the tyre presure before you drive, your driving tutor should teach you this, well this is a very goodjob ev car by fair price

Why don t you can t calculate in km/Kwh like normal people! ? You english people and your absurd systems of measuring things, whit no logic or meaning
reply

I can't combine the security aspect of Volvo and not having an instrument cluster or at least a head's up display. I think it is somewhat dangerous.

Nice car apart from the display and once again BS about the range but still BETTER than what those bellends at Subaru are doing!

How is it for something so basic like setting up the wing mirror is THE MOST DANGEROUS thing you would ever do in this car?
