Fix a cracked or chipped windshield yourself. If you do not fix a chip in the glass as soon as possible the chip can turn into a crack overnight! It is easy and costs 10. A repair place will charge about 75 to fix the chip and a windshield can cost you over 500 to replace. This short diy video will save you time, money, and frustration! Here is where I got the window repair kit

That's not how it should be done. lol. If you're going to use one of these kits instead of a pro like myself who's been in the business for years, be sure to take caution with the adhesive that you see this guy pushing on. This will only crack out the windshield when applying and removing the sticky tab. When you're done, be sure to remove the left over resin at an angle with a razor before you place the cure tab onto the damage. apply a few drops onto the damage, place the cure tab onto the damage for the allowed time and make sure it's flush with the windshield. Once this is complete, pull the tab off and scrape the dry resin with a razor at a 90 degree angle and not at 45 degree angle or you'll put the pit out of the damage.
Better solution is to find someone who does it and who doesn't charge more than fifty bucks to fill it ALL the way. Keep in mind, if you use insurance, it will count as a ding on your record so pay the money to have it done correctly or these kits will end up a mess in the long run. Just my 2C

Just got a crack in my new ride and remembered seeing the latest ChrisFix vid on the issue. Well, not done yet but thought Id check out his old videos and man; you can see in his body language the extreme disappointment for the results. Definitely a learning curve. All the things he says not to do are because he knows first hand the results youll get. Check out his latest video, its the best!

there are a couple of problem using these chip kits. the kit does not allow you to pull the air out of the break to fill correctly. the companies that sell these cheap kits use low grade risens that turn yellow and fall out over time. it may help for awhile but it will crack out over time. if you have comprehensive insurance you use a service pro for free and have it done right.

Looks nicer, wont crack any more but its going to very annoying as it will be noisy and you will have an obvious water line every time the wiper goes over it, but its a good fix until you get the windshield swapped for a new one. Been there so know what Im talking about.

I repair chips professionally.
You should be able to get better results.
A good repair should be 80 to 90% less visible upon completion.
The resin is cured by UV light, so you need to block UV during the repair.

Dam thats big!
We where driving down the road when a big rock hit our windshield and chipped it. It was very big at least 1 inch. We ended up paying for a groupon. Then getting it fixed the next day

I would never use a paper towel as I would be afraid pieces of it would get stuck inside the crack and end up getting sealed in there forever with the resin. Try a Microfibre cloth.

If you get a bad chip like that, immediately contact your car insurance agent, usually they'll send someone to your house to fix it for free(even if you don't have glass coverage.

Would never have cracked because of location on windshield. Perfect bullseye. And you need to put the resin over the chip at the end to cover the impact hole.

You didnt do that right. you need to use the razor to flatten out the UV film for one. And 2nd you need to clean out the crack better.
