Get Honey for FREE and start saving money today Christopher P Williams: This video wasnt really thought out was it? Hes talking more about trim levels than anything. Additionally he referenced the M-lite models although not full fat M cars are amazing vehicles in their own right. I suggest he drives an M1/240i and see how that compares to the respective top of the range non M badged vehicles.

Gotta say, I disagree with this video. I'm an Audi guy, so speaking with that brand as an example. 1. The QUATTRO badge is not a performance badge. It denotes four wheel drive and only appears on cars with four wheel drive. 2. S-lines are the normal cars with sportier looks. Usually bigger wheels, lowered suspension different bumpers and skirts, etc. And every one agrees they look way better than standard cars. For people who can't afford or don't want an S or RS car, these are perfect. Having the economy of a 2. 0tdi but with a sport look. Who wouldn't want that? 3. Also in the used car market the S-lines command quite a bit more money than standard models, so it's actually an investment to get an S-line as you'll see more money back on the other end

Many people just like the looks of an s/AMG/m/ST/R line package and don't want an fuel-guzzling daily driver. You know, gas isn't cheap here in Europe. And insurance would be more expensive too with an full sporty version. Also, 'quattro' is just the name for the four-wheel-drive versions. And the M140i for example has more power than the regular 1 series. You have to differentiate between the performance badges and the styling badges. It's the styling packages that don't bring any real performance (except a better suspension and exhaust sometimes.

I don't like how you think the Type R is intact while BMW with only fast sporty cars gets the M badge. M340i has 374 hp. The X2 and X1 35i has 306 hp. While you can get the M package on every car so they are not perfect they only add M to the name it's a sport car. The X1 is not sporty compared to M3 but compared to other small SUVs it's sporty. M8 is not sporty compared to a Ferrari 488 Pista but it's class it's sporty. Mercedes puts AMG badges on a few too many cars but the 63 still means V8 while other down size.

The Badge Police is a bad trade of the automotive world. Its those car guys that want to be exclusive and stand out cause they spent there money on the top of the rangewhile the neighbor really dont give a damn in his SUV or Luxury vehicle but would like some extra sporty LOOKS. Your badge is not going to get the milk quicker or make the holiday trip much better. However sport line models appeals to everyone and the auto maker.

You confuse M Performance cars, like the M340i, with M Sport package which is a trim option you can get on any BMW. The X2 M35i is properly fast and does 0-100km/h in under 5 seconds. The M Performance cars are just a step below an M car. Less than 1% of people can afford an M car. If more people get part of the way to their dreams and BMW get to move some more cars I dont see what the problem is.

I think they did not look into the Audi badging enough. Quattro only means it's awd, S-line is just trim/seats/interior and the S and RS models are performance beasts. Also: Toyota won the drivers WRC title with Ott Tanak in 2019 and Hyundai won the manufacturers WRC title in 2019. I have always liked Donut, but after watching this video, I'm in doubt about the research they did.

I work for Hyundai and last week we got in a Elantra GT N line it's just a better-looking body then the average GT it has a racing like steering wheel with shifter and 18-inch wheels but I have a 2017 Elantra sport with the same engine and same horsepower with 18-inch wheels. It would have been better if they would have brought a bigger engine then a 1. 6 turbo.

The only dilution of the Quattro badge is sticking it in the transverse engined Audi's that actually use a haldex system not Audi's quattro system. For example. You can have an b5 a4/a6 quattro even in diesel as it has the center diff etc. But the A3 of that time uses haldex. No center diff. It wasn't a performance badge.

The M performance badge isnt really fraud in my opinion because there are still real Ms that get an upgrade in hp as well. M performance is just a way to upgrade the look of your regular BMW just like Mercedes AMG line wich features exterior and interior design that is only available in true AMGs to the regular Mercedes.
