Here's why people would spend more on the Polestar over the Tesla. Out here in California, you go to Dublin/Pleasanton, San Fransisco, Moraga, Walnut Creek, or almost anywhere in the Bay Area, or even the Central Valley, there are SO MANY TESLAS, it's riminiscent of a taxi in New York. They're like ants. They're everyfreakingwhere. Hardly anyone that has one, uses the full range or has range anxiety. None of them are racing anyone. If you pull up to the market in a Polestar, you're the talk of the town. The thing is, no one knows about them, so it won't be anytime soon when they're common, and the person that has one, is hoping that they will never be common. Less common, carries a heftier price tag. I'd spend the extra on a Polestar 4, after it has more range. It doesn't have to be better than Tesla, just more range than it has now.

polestar 2: has a much better interior, looks better, and is arguably more practical because of the hatchback
tesla model 3 performance: has better range, better acceleration, while being cheaper then the polestar 2
edit: the tesla has the tesla supercharger network. before i was about to say i prefer quality, design, and more practicality over range and performance, but that supercharger network is such a good convenience. but i would just charge at home most of the time anyway so i would only really need the supercharger for when im going on a road trip. but still that supercharger network is really something i would want

Maybe it's just me, but I think this car is not particularly good looking. The wheels look to be at least 2 too big for it, and it has the ugly BMW X2/4 shape where it's trying to be both a car and a crossover while failing at both (which, to be fair, is a style that's popular in Asia--almost certainly why it looks like that. All in all, I'm really not excited about this car vs its competition.

Doug, you missed some quirks about the infotainment system: for instance you can swipe on the temperature number to regulate it, and if you just click it you can split the temperatures since it has a double-zone climate system!
Not to mention that this is the first car to use Android for their infotainment, and that's very different from Android Auto

I Totally agree with Doug on every point he makes in this video but he forgot maybe the most important factor while buying an EV and that's CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE
this might not be such a big deal in EU where there are ionity and other public chargers but in the US it dose't make sense to pay 60 grand and still have range anxiety.

My phone is more safe to use when driving than my car screen. It s faster I m more familiar with it, I can use siri instead touching buttons and we so used to our phone we can press to put up navigation or anything else without looking down or glued to the screen. These cars are so over complicated when it comes to technology.

the model 3 non-performance long range is even cheaper like 14k cheaper, goes 120 miles farther and is still faster with more rear leg room. It also has basic autopilot which is more than enough for all practical purposes. Not to mention the supercharging network. The only advantage this car has over the model 3 is the look.

I'm typing this before watching the entire video.
Will Volvo actually put an motorized steering column in here or not? Cause for disabled people like me, that's a must. I passed on a Volvo last year because of this. I'm betting this Volvo will be the same.

Really sad, I hate the minimalist stuff or the hard try to copy Tesla. That's actually a car that I could buy to replace my actual car. But everything is on the infotainment. Hard button for climate control and heated seat are so better. Trying to hard.
