The problem with the old BRZ/86 was that the engine has the torque dip problem. The torque of the engine doesn't come until close to red line so the engine feels slacking. And funny that people are complaining it needs power because it rival the ND Miata came out with 151hp and later 181hp but people people praise the car. But that's because the miata engine loves to rev and always has the power at the low rpm. The 2. 0 of the BRZ doest have the torque at low rpm. The new BRZ 2. 4 engine fixes the problem by having most of the torque at 3400 rpm so it the engine finally feels responsive and quick.

I actually really want one, but the GR86. Better design than the old one.
228hp/180lbft of torque is perfect for me and it being N/A with a manual is a big plus.
The two biggest cons for me. is the digital gauge cluster. I like the old analog one from the previous gen. And second, I know the types of kids who would be buying these cars and I must ask myself. do I really want to associate myself with that?

Did you try to pull on those things on the back seats? That should be how you fold the seats down from the back. That's been around since forever. Same as the doors that don't unlock themselves when you pull the door lever when the door is locked. You've been around too many high end cars you forgot how the rest of the work. :)

Not auto unlocking car doors with the handle is a security feature. The windows on these cars flex a lot and make it relatively straight forward to pop the door open if you can shimy the door handle. Rule of security is if a door can be easily opened from the inside, it can usually be easily opened from the outside.

LOVE every thing about it. Manual transmission is gloriously perfect. Everything analog is appreciated since analog gives drivers more feeling of control, nicely included on its trunk, too. BRZ appears to be very thoughtfully designed. Does it have a night dim panel?

LOL - Yeah, it's not much of a HP increase. But for the price tag, I guess ya can't expect much. I would rather have the WRX STi that can be tuned to 360 HP for about 3500. And Nissan have a new Z Car coming out that will have 400hp and will be priced at about 40k.

Not enough torque. 184 lb ft
They did a good job keeping weight dow, around 2800 lbs
If you have to stay below 30k, this is a good option.
If you can get to a new Nissan Z, for around 40k, with 350-400 HP, go for it

It's crazy to me that cars like this are on the verge of extinction. Finding a simple, fun, affordable, front engine, rear drive car with a manual transmission is proving more & more difficult every year.
