I don't mind this as much as the 2013 redesign. The last pathfinder was a boring eggplant crossover like everything else. I used to own a 1995 pathfinder and it was very muscular and fun, and I would love to see that return a little bit more. I hope they ditch the CVT on most of their lineup as they used to be so reliable before the introduction of the CVT transmissions.
However, what I want from Nissan above all else is a new offroady Xtrerra, based on the frontier frame. I drive an old Xterra and it has been a blast. If they did that it would sell guaranteed.

Weird. The old one was sold under the name Terrano where I grew up, in Germany. My parents owned what must have been the 1988 model, the one with the triangular window, from the old ad Doug shows at the beginning of the video.
I was having the hardest time finding pictures of that thing. If it was sold under a different name in the USA, that explains why. SUVs were still rare in Germany and Europe in general back then and I doubt that they sold many under that differing name in that much smaller market.

The gear lever is not an improvement IMHO it s as dumb as the audi ones. You can t tell at a glance what gear it s in, or whether it s in park. You have no tactile sense of it either. There s probably some 3/8ths lettering in the instrument cluster that indicates, but they have made it way too subtle. It is an important function and should not be so opaque regarding it s state of operation.

You say you can keep the child seat while accessing the third row but you never show a child seat in place. I challenge you to review a vehicle with the child seat in place without adjusting the driver's seat and access the third row. Only vehicle that can do this is anything without a center console and walk through the middle to the back.

It seems Nissan is doing the same thing as Hyundai and copying Cadillac with the whole headlights stretching up the hood line styling.
I have the same issue with this as the new Sonata
There's no reason to extend the lights up that far. What are you trying to do, signal satellites or something?

You have a tremendous dislike for Nissan. BTW, the shifter doesn't need the button pushed to go into drive. You didn't show how the center console comes out and you tested a 2WD version instead of an AWD. Your definition of masculine looking is far different than many, but you are in California!

Awesome video! I m really glad they swapped out the CVT for a nine speed automatic. But I don t like that they still have a 3. 5 V6, a highly inefficient engine. They should ve done a 2. 5 L four-cylinder turbo, that would ve been the same horsepower with much better gas mileage.

Pathfinder alla Range Rover. but seems more practical and reliable. Only time will tell really about reliability with all the bells & whistles, but I'm still holding on to my '06 Pathfinder for now. Can't complain since it's still going strong and doesn't give me trouble.

4: 17: It's surprisingly deep like I can fit almost my whole hand in here. It's surprising how much stuff you could put in there if you wanted, although there's no like cover for it, it'll fly around under heavy acceleration.

I just came home with my new (to me) 2012 Pathfinder. I absolutely love it so far. Super smooth handling, nice power, tons of options, good towing capacity, overall just a really nice vehicle for the price.
