I actually have this beat, so I bought a 2007 mini cooper with a transferable warranty and the warranty was 2, 500 the previous owners purchased from Carmax. While they owned it, the head was replaced, the timing chain, the vanos system, and since I've had the car not even 2500 miles and this is what happened, the torque converter took a dump, the transmission, the high pressure fuel pump, the sun roof, the oil filter housing. My totals were over 12, 000 in 2 months, their total, well if you think about how much it'd cost to replace the head, about 4, 500, and the timinig chain would be a 2, 800 repair. I'd say there is about 20, 000 in repairs done on this car. because I can't remember everything. But yes the carmax warranty is the best in the world I'd say.

I think the reason why cars quickly break is that owners doesn't know how to take care of the engine or the car itself. Every morning even when it's very snowy, after starting the car, majority of the people I've seen will just set off immediately without warming them up. Cars are like pet dogs, if you don't take care or love them they will die same as cars. That's why one of the things I'd like to point out, spend at least 2-3 mins of warming up the engine of the car and I would say makes the car more reliable. Try it I'm a student, most of the cars of my friends break down quickly but mine won't because I always check and warm up my engine before I leave the house.

Wow, thats a long and painful list of issues Doug. My condolences. I have a 2007 TDV8 and while it is certainly not fault-free, the only common fault with yours, has been the parking sensors which were faulty when I bought it used in 2013. The suspension bushes needed to be replaced in 2018 but since the car has done over 115 000 miles, 60 000 by me, then that is not unreasonable. Remember that the dealer has to be an expert with these cars as they are fiendishly complex. Good luck

You have to look at it like this - how many people actually end up having those types of problems with their cars after buying the Carmax warranty? So for all the people who shell out the money for the warranties (which probably sits in an interest bearing account if they are like the dealer I worked at, they are still making money hand over fist and that more than covers charges like yours; ) It's still shocking to see how bad those vehicles are when compared to their cost.

I went to forevercar. com and the warranty for a 2010 Range Rover Sport HSE with 110K mikes is 477 a month and for a 2010 Cadillac Escalade with 110K is 154. Getting a Cadillac is a no brainer, same price, same fuel economy but Escale you have more room, tow capacity and more reliability, just no AWD which I dont care. Not that I would get a warranty but its just an example that these warranties know about cars that might cost more to repair.

You never mention how many miles this car has on it. I have a sport supercharged with 77, 000 on the dash and it's an 08. We are in December of 17 now. Only issue I've had with it is check engine light for an o2 sensor and also a tire pressure light. Other than that this car is solid. Maybe your model and my model don't share many parts. They look identical but maybe they are completely different.

You cannot buy a vehicle of this caliber which is already old at 6 years and complain, Also you fail to mention the mileage? This was no doubt reflected in the purchase price, It sounds to me that you have bought a wealthy man's high end vehicle without the earnings to support it, You have to remember these vehicles are very complex and once they age multiple breakdowns are inevitable.

That's pretty good. if you go to the dealership and purchase a new car and don't take their warranty you can actually contact the actual people for example Mopar and they will give you warranty options and I paid 4k for a lifetime warranty. you will maintain the factory warranty after it goes out for the lifetime of the vehicle no joke

dirt inside the horn should be. it's not normal to have to pay 2x or 3x for the same parts replaced (suspension, horn) they should have their own garanty - the fact that no question is asked because Carmax will pay at the end, will make that 1/ customer pays insurance higher and higher 2/ eventually Carmax will fail. ;)
