5: 45 - OMG. As soon as you called the fake vents ears, I can see the whole face.
The top center speaker grille is the hair. The real vents are the eyes, with the silver adjuster bits the pupils, the ears are the fake vents, the pop-out cupholder is a mustache with the silver trim bit the nose, and either the CD slot is the mouth, or the infotainment screen is the mouth open wide, with the row of buttons under a soul patch. (And the row of buttons under THAT with the emergency triangle button is the top of the shit, with the triangle the top of a tie)

I own one of these. I've got an aftermarket screen and Doug was right about the condensation from the cup holders. The touchscreen doesn't work anymore but still displays.
Also, the center console and glove box do lock with the car when the roof is down. At least on mine they do. This car is missing the cover for the center storage area but it does lock if you have it

Rebadged Chrysler Crossfire. I remember driving the supercharged version in a pale canary yellow - very rare back then and even harder to get your hands on now. The only reason I didn't keep it was because with the top down your only storage area (trunk) was severely limited. The BMW i8 was a better hardtop convertible IMO. Too bad that's gone now too.

Come on Doug, you know why they're underappreciated by car people. It's because the styling says it should come with the Barbie Dream house included. I'd argue that a vast majority of buyers when this car were new were women, in their 40's in places like Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach. Those kinda customers aren't exactly springing for the AMG package.

I've been a big fan for a long time, but two things you miss. One is I would like to hear 0-60 times on all cars and a small review of the audio equipment. The audio on some cars has been a deal breaker for me. Otherwise you reviews are the most in depth of anyone's. You go deep in the quirks, beyond what even a dealership might supply. Thanks!

The SL has epic styling. Even the Miata has solid styling. But I fail to find ANY angle to be attractive. Clearly, there was a reason it was overlooked. I think the AMG packages were an attempt to swing buyers. from looking at anything else (esp. Boxter. It didn t work. It still doesn t. Thanks for the very interesting video.

So the owner couldn't sacrifice the extra few to buy coated rotors to prevent the car from looking like a 30 yr. old rust-bucket! Come on enthusiasts, we have to do better! Details, it's all about the details! Ha ha ha! Otherwise, that's a good looking example of a SLK 55 AMG! The new owner should have a great time! Enjoy!

Five thousand, five hundred CCs in a car the size of a shooooeee! -Jeremy Clarkson
I remember seeing an ad when I was 6 years old when this car came out. I was so mesmerized by the looks and sound of the car, and remember thinking how cool the guy driving looked. Waiting until I can get one of these for myself.

Hey, the glovebox and armrest storage ARE lockable. They lock with the car. And you actually can controll the little triangle windows when the top is up - double tap on the roof button will close or open all windows - including the triangles.
