BMW M3s ranked! Today I am ranking the BMW M3 models from worst to best, and I'm going to give you my opinion on every BMW M3 ranked from worst to best. Doug DeMuro gives his take on BMW M3 models ranked! Dennis: My 1999 E36 in Dakar Yellow was my first experience of owning a car with different size tires front and back, thus limiting rotation of tires and decreasing their lifespan to about 20, 000 miles. That wasn t the worse part! The first time I needed tires I called the local tire shop and asked for a quote on my Dunlop tires. I can t remember the exact sizes or tread pattern, but it was so unique the local tire shop couldn t find them! After several days of calling tire shops across Pennsylvania, I had one of them call me back and he began the conversation like this Let me guess, your car is a 1999 BMW M3 and this is one of the two front tires. When I heard that I KNEW this was NOT going to be cheap! I sold her around 50k miles, just before having to buy all new sneakers again.

Just paused to say that that is a great shirt, THIS! is the shirt we've been waiting for.
Btw, what about an update on top viewer videos compared to your personal favorites?
I had been keeping an eye on that for a while, as i predicted that the giant Ford F-650 video would kill, i think my comment is still on there, and it sure did, because it's now at the nr. 2 spot, it recently overtook the BMW i8 but is tied with 13 million views, just 2 million views behind the nr. 1, Chiron.
The C8 will climb up some more, as it is the youngest video in the top 5, and still has healthy legs.
My careful prediction is that the top 5 at the end of the year will be the same, but the gaps between the views will decrease, next year the shifts will happen, the Chiron will remain nr. 1 for a while, but the F-650 closes in, gaining a couple hundred thousand views by then, the Ford GT will overtake the BMW i8, and as a double hitter, at the end of the year, the C8 will also overtake the i8, with the Rolls-Royce 2018 Phantom breathing down its neck.
Unless you drop a major bomb, or some special interests appear and change the metrics.

I m in Connecticut where BMWs are more common than birds and it is VERY noticeable how few G80 pig-nosed cars I see on the road. I ve personally seen less than ten of them on the road, total. A lot less. I ve never ever (ever) seen fewer of a new 3-series model, this long after introduction. Maybe some of that is supply chain, but who wants a hideous car? I ve had four 3-series coupes over the years, including an E46 M3, so I m fan. But not of the new one. Sad way to end the ICE-line of M3 s.

I had an 1998 E36 M3 convertible that I traded in towards a new 2000 E39 M5, and a 1988 E30 M3 that I bought for 7, 500 in 2000 and sold for 9, 000 in 2009, damn it. I miss the E39 and the E30, my two most favorite cars I've ever owned (about 48 cars in 48 years of driving. I concur with Doug's rankings.

I don t full understand how Doug can give the E92 so much flack when the E46 had even more issues than it. Give the F80 a few more years and I m sure even that car will be more problematic. This is coming from the former owner an E92 M3 DCT, E46 M3 6MT, and current F82 M4 DCT owner.

I remember Doug on the smoking tire podcast and I d love to know what changed his mind about the e30, from the podcast saying it was simply underpowered, similar to the e36 now holding it at number one on this list, I definitely agree but what changed his mind.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It took a minute for me to process the G80, but I love it - it looks ahead of its time, which means it will likely age well.
I was a fan of my e60 530 though, and it was both polarizing and ahead of its time too.

I think the new M3 is the BEST M3 ever from the modern era, and the new M4 goes side by side with the previous M4, because the new one is better but the front design doesn't match with the whole car, but in the M3 fits perfectly.

When the F80 came out it was larger (than the E90) and it had more power to compensate for that larger size but it just sort of went away from the M3 ethos.
But the F80 was about 200 pounds lighter than the E90.

E46 period. I autocrossed one for years and loved it. My only complaint about it was that oversteer came in quick and twitchy. The E90 was a dream on the courses because its oversteer was transitional and smooth.
