Nice review. You know Doug, I worked in the automotive industry in Quality for 19 years. Also on automotive safety. Dont compare Audi, Mercedes and BMW with Volvo when it comes to quality. Volvo is far better. Quality is not only about Appearance, fit and finish. It is about reliability and Robustness but even most about production Capability and Reproducibility. Volvo wins this easy over the German brands when it comes to internal quality control and supplier quality. The only European car manufacturing company that currently is even more quality controlled it is Jagular (Jaguar Landrover. Mercedes. I would never buy a new Mercedes. A company that put non-PPAP approved safety parts (samples/prototypes) in their serial production cars. imagine how much is cheated with the other quality control. BTW, you forgot to show the XC40 active safety. Would have been nice to see the night vision working.

So the other day, I am driving this thing about 60-65 mph as I merge onto the highway; someone is coming up quickly and I need to get out of the way and move into the next left lane. Wow, what getup and go---- I floored it and was barely able to get the thing to 70+ mph so I wasn't rear ended. As usual, automatic transmission lag, no torque on demand for sure. I suppose there's ANOTHER reason it's built well, will handle the rear end hit well too. Value? I must laugh. I was also told that the reason I didn't have standard features like heated seats, a light in the back, seats that didn't collapse under normal use, and a sun visor that moved in more than one direction because it was a price point. Right.

In Europe the credit card holders are very usefull. Going through Italy you comonly use credit cards to pay for toll in motorways. Same applies if you pay on exiting garages ans so forth. The problem is that not all systems accept just one card provider so you might want your cards neetly stashed away so you have them close when you need them. ;) Keep up the good work.

Fun Volvo for sure. Side note, mid's or mid-bass would traditionally be in the door panel, not a subwoofer. 99% of all subwoofers done by a manufacturer are in rear quarters, under floor inside the spare wheel, under the dash, or under a rear seat. Not the door panel. As an XC60 owner, I do like the quirkiness of the XC40. #becausevolvo

I like your videos but the way you compare cars and set scores on em is quite weird. The things you don't know what they are why not use google or ask the one you lended the car from? I'm quite sure its not hard to find the information you seek and hopefully the car owner knows about the car/cars he own.

I'm on the market for a new vehicle and decided I want a luxury sedan or crossover. I just test drove both Volvo SUVs today. My husband and I have a tremendously capable adventure 4x4 for overlanding and other adventures so I don't need huge off road capability. So far I like the Volvos

The engine is covered in foam so as to prevent a pedestrian or cyclist's head from impacting against the engine block in event of a front end collision with a pedestrian, essentially preventing insta-death. The old V40 one was plastic with a heat resistant padded backing.

Wonder what this would be like with a beefy engine and some KO2 beefy tires. Add an exterior light bar you can control via cell phone and then lets see how Doug rates its quirks and features. Dont forget the spare tire that hooks via trailer hitch.
