They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. The Miata finally copied the Honda Delsol acknowledging the Targa top design and it's advantages. However the Delsol actually still has the more superior design for the below reasons: Has more interior room (head and leg room)It has a glove box, Real spare tyreMore trunk/boot spaceNo lump on the floor pan, No heating problems of the center tunnel, Reclineable seats (even at maximum rear rail seating position) without sacrificing leg room by needing to move the seat forward. Has adjustable rear windowLarger rear speakers (not in your seat and in your ear) which makes it easily up gradable. Has visors that can be swiveled to the side (Euro and JDM versions easily obtained and retrofitted) for shading you when the sun is on the side. etc etcIf you can get the Transtop you are laughing. keep it for life.

Im a rather recent MX-5 convert. I used to think they were wimpy little pretentious roadsters, but over the years Ive come to appreciate the smaller throw-arounds like the Miata, Abarth 500 and Del-Sol. That being said, I have a question that may unwittingly draw the ire of old school MX-5 fans. Why does this model have both a shark fin and aerial? I know one handles GPS and data duty while the other handles AM/FM, but why not just shove everything into a single antenna like every other car made after 1999? This isnt a knock on the car, but a genuine question from a newer MX-5/Miata fan. Thanks for the insight.

The Fiata is a better looking car to me, and the engine although just 1. 4L turbo has much more power than the Miata, plus it can be turned up in minutes due to better tuning/boost etc. Get serious and you can do a rebuild to deliver 300 HP with better rods, pistons, turbo, injectors, fuel pump, clutch, intercooler, remap. Point is, its a more tunable car. I wish it was a 2 or 2. 3 L turbo like what comes in the Mazdaspeed 3. However, the 1. 4 L turbo will deliver excellent milage and power on demand.

You statement about the RF being 7000 more is not entirely correct. Let's compare apples to apples. RT Club 32900 - Soft Top Club 30200 RT GT 34000 - Soft Top GT 32800. Now, there is a Base Sport model, but it does not come in a RT. The Soft Top Sport is 27100. I doubt anyone wanting a RT would want it in the Sport trim. And here is question for you Doug. Why are you wearing a t-shirt over a t-shirt?

I like the small Mazda logo on that small sail window. Is that a sticker or is it between the glass layers? It looks 3D. It would have been really cool if they used the previous diamond circle Mazda logo that was on the original Miata before they changed to the winged M logo used today.

Wayyyyyy to harsh on the scoring. Many magazines have stated this is the best sports car ever made. You dont have to be fast just as long as you feel it. You state that this car is absolutely gorgeous and scored a lousy seven out of 10? Very peculiar.

Surprisingly large trunk for the size of the car. Mazda engineers did great job utilizing space. I hate engine covers as well. I want to see the engine, not some monstrous plastic slab over it. So props to Mazda on that as well.

Hey Doug, I recall instances where I would find myself searching for a stop sign. Sometimes these signs would be partially obstructed by foliage. Also, sometimes it's difficult to discern if an intersection is a 4 or 2-way stop.
