Extremely uncomfortable seating position for me. It's like sitting on a sled. That alone killed it for me. The reason that it is old and new is because Toyota does not want to spend the money fully updating their trucks. The Tundra ( which I owned) is horribly dated. Same with this and the 4runner. They are very durable and reliable. I never had one issue with my Tundra in 10 years. If your going to do heavy off-roading this is the choice. I do not so I got the Honda Ridgeline. Better payload capacity, drives like a luxury car and the interior and features blow this away for the same money. No it does not tow quite as much ( but most never tow anything) and it is not going to go boulder climbing but in every other way it's a better value. Better acceleration and MPG as well.

So in your scoring you are placing styling or fun factor on par with reliability? Your joking, right? I would rather have an ugly truck that won't strand me in the middle of nowhere, than a great looking trunk that I have in the shop every 6 months. Case in point: Years ago I bought a new 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. It was not my main drive to work vehicle. In 4 years I put 16K miles on it. That's 4K a year. It WAS in the shop every 6 months At 7K miles the ignition relay crapped out and stranded me on a Sunday afternoon IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE and out of range of cell phone service. Yes, I will take reliability over styling any day.

Hi, guys Maybe I can get some advice from you. I'm looking to buy a used pickup that could transport my two bikes, both around 2260 mm / 89 in long and totalling 400 kg / 880 lb, with some options to swap the engine and that I could tune as well, supercharge or turbocharge. I was always more into motorcycles than cars, but since it's expedient for me to get a vehicle to transport my bike to the race track, I thought the car / truck might as well be not as boring as stock vehicles. Please let me know in the comments the model, pros and cons and possibly average resell price if you're knowledgable.

The combination of old and new isn't unusual at all. If you take stock of all of the components that are old, they are all components that are integral to the basic functionality and reliability of the purpose of the vehicle in its most basic form. That is, you don't need lane departure monitoring, weather forecasts, etc, but you do need a functioning and robust parking break, gear lever, etc. The components that Toyota decided to keep old seem to be very carefully selected.

The crawl control, is on the TRD Off Road also. Not just the pro. The tires that come on the Pro are not off road tires, theyre more like Highway Terrains. When you dont have the JBL sound system you have the storage space behind the seats. I would know. I have a 2019 TRD Off Road. I love it. It has everything the pro has, just different suspension and no pro badging. But that doesnt matter when you actually off road your truck. You switch out the suspension.

Disagree Doug and I own a Sport (same motor and same trans) These trucks feel pretty gutless to me. Recently took it on an 8 hour trip through Wyoming. Joke. Really struggled to cruise at 75 mph. The Canyon had none of the same issues on that same trip while averaging better gas mileage. The tacoma is overrated imo. Glad it retains value.

This truck is a total copy of the midsize versions of the Chevy S10 ZR2/Colorado. and Colorado can be had with a V8 Vortec. They don't die because they make no low end torque to stress the drivetrain. Then again, Chevy Vortec's don't die either. In today's day and age pretty much most vehicles will run forever.

Tacoma all the way. TRD Pro is baD. Best one yet. The Blue is very exciting to see. Cement Grey, Quicksand Tan are great also. Toyota/Jeep were the real off-roaders. Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge just tagged along. Ford is still struggling with their lug nutsTeam IVAN STEWART

tacoma's are good in this way doug, yes it may lack of some gadgets but those are making it reliablei would understand merc or bimmer not having electronic parking brake or memory seats but unlike those this is a pickup plus you expect this to last 20 years with minimum care
