Since the first stage of the project was completed the owner has become a member of the team and is totally addicted to get the best possible results from the car and I have a feeling that if he had the budget this would be one of the fastest Mk4 golfs around. The lack of budget is not stopping him from going to the next stage as he has sourced a IHI VF34 turbo for a subaru STI5 that is now proven 342. 8bhp and I have fitted a peloquin lsd, launch control and a huge front mount intercooler with spray bars and water injection bosch 580cc injectors and a 044 fuel pump and a DTA ecu, which is just controlling the drive train and the original takes care of the car and fittings. We have also put the 6 speed gt tdi gearbox to alter the gear ratio's for nearly 70 in 2nd and now 158 in 6th.
I still can't believe how fast this car is and only costs to date 4400 pounds and it's faster than the focus RS mk2 and 3, type r and M3 although not come across the new civic type r yet but the only thing that has proved to be faster than this on every level is my RS3 st2 449bhp the wheels but this is a 20 grand car with a 2. 5turbo 5 cylinder 4wd monster that is used to eating porsche for breakfast

the
whats up guys. I have a question for u.
I have a 1998 Golf MK3 (now I know Marty doesn't like it as seen on the Budget Street Cred video)
but I want to modify it a bit.
it has a 1. 6 8v engine stock. Could you do a video on turbo charging it and upgrading the software.
I really want to beat a certain competition I have got on with my friend.
he drives a 2005 Opel Corsa Lite with a 2014 chev Utility 1. 4 8v engine that he plans on turbocharging. he claims he can get 115 bhp out with a 0. 8 bar boost without changing any internals.
I rekon I can beat that. ;. BUT I would like to run it passed you guys (the experts) to help me KICK HIS FAT A hehe
keep up the GREAT and INFORMATIVE videos.
I have ZERO regrets about subbing to you guys.
Regards KID

I recently had a breaker's yard build on a 2002 Mk4 golf 1. 8t and took 9 work days to complete from a oem spec 180bhp with 89k miles in good shape and well looked after. The plan was a 2000 pounds budget and a upgrade to the performance, handling, brakes and looks.
I found a great donor r32 in the local scrap yard and salvaged the interior, bumpers and body trim to make it look like a good r32 and fitted Audi S6 wheels and the r32 brakes, the same yard had a SEAT leon cupra r that had the k04 turbo and map sensor and the other top end sensors and fittings. All of which mapped on the rollers to 266bhp and a 13. 85 1/4m sprint, which is a fast sweet car for 2900 pounds all in

So I watched this episode when I was growing up and its hands down the biggest reason I bought a mkV GTI this spring.
I was curious if GFB or other brands made a BOV/Diverter valve like the ones Ive seen in a few episodes; where it sends some air into atmosphere and recirculates some back into the system? But for a mkV GTI.
I know the forge spacers are popular, I just want to make sure I can keep some air going through so the sensor doesnt panic and throw an engine code.
This comment is turning out longer than I thought. whoops.

Looking for the tail lights that have been used - have a stock standard GTI and the only thing externally that I plan on changing is the tail lights. The only ones that I can find online are particularly cheap looking. The ones use in the video look like the ones that are in my Polo Vivo - I like how they look. Any suggestions?

Why are the comments people trying to apply modern changed thinking to years beforehand? Do you all forget what 2009 was like? Obviously.
These lights were not such a weird or ugly thing back then.
Stop apply how one mods a car now 10 years or even less slightly to back then.
It's not the same mindset.

I would really like to see you guys integrate superchargers and turbo more, even developing a bypass on supercharger to air intake for when turbo spins up causing too much pressure for supercharger if that is an induction problem? Would 'Twin' charged be the appropriate term for using supercharger coupled with turbocharger?

After watching this again after several years and owning my own one,
BOV isn't suitable for the engine management
boost gauge looks average when set like it was
