I just got a 2008 audi a4 4c 2. 0T it run beautifully but then again no one drove it for years just turned on every month or so cause they water logged the komfort module and couldnt use the windows or convertible top. Everything under the hood was like brand new as if it was never used at all, but while they were using it they never changed its oil, it was practically black sludge. First thing we did was change the oil. My dad is a professional master mechanic in gas and diesel motors, cars, trucks, bikes even exotic cars. If my dad wasnt a mechanic id have never even considered it even if it was only 6k for it which tbh was a rip off cause the module is like 500 bucks but i needed a car rn for work and its going to snow soon so windows wont be down anyway. Thank god the heater and ac work tho. Literally the only thing wrong with it is that one module.

Years ago I owned a Datsun280ZX and then a Nissan 300ZX. Bought both cars about 50K miles, about 5-6 yrs old. Both cars were top of the line products. Drove the 280ZX to 150k miles till body rusted out, the 300ZX to 225k miles. 300ZX had auto trans never an issue. As a DYIer, had access to parts cars, the local salvage yard had a lot filled with cars at least one or two of each, was able to get parts there, even a gas tank for the 280ZX that rusted out and leaked. Buy any older say loaded S Mercedes - new at 125K, just get a parts car, perhaps rear ended or t bone, and have all the parts you need - drive for a quarter million miles. Same goes for any loaded luxury car. Scotty doesnt mention parts cars, but thats the ticket. My parts cars were at the salvage yards. I used both cars for commuting everyday and everything else, up to 22k per year.

Scotty I love your videos A comment about KIAs. Me and 2 friends of mine have KIA CEED, KIA PROCEED and a KIA RIO. The first 2 have about 160k km (100k miles) and the RIO has 290k km (180k miles. The PROCEED had the electric steering changed in warranty. The CEED has no damages at all and the RIO has only changed the brake pads and the rotors. I live in Greece so weather is about the same as Texas. So I could say KIAs are reliable by my experience, (I also own an AUDI) and with good price. BUT buy a KIA or HYUNDAI with 6sp MANUAL Keep up the good work Scotty

Just to let the US population know this. Just featured on a television programme in the UK, Rip Off Britain, a guy bought a clocked 2011 Merc E Class estate. It had 455, 000 plus miles to September 2018, in 7 years always passing its MOT(Government official and compulsory yearly full road worthiness test) with just a few minor advisories eg mostly tyres. Sorry for him, but the reliability and build quality are not up for question. Buy Mercedes with confidence. unlike your home market efforts

German cars are definitely not money pits. My dad has had Mercedes for years on years. We had an e class we bought for 5 grand 15 years ago. Fun car to drive and work on, parts can be expensive if you dont know where to get them. We recently sold the e class for 3 grand last year and bought a 2013 s class for 25k with heated cooled massage seats and a great 5 year warranty with Mercedes dealer.

I know some people wont see this but should I go for the Toyota highlander or Hyundai palisade? I mean the Hyundai palisade has- GDI, I heard there was lots of fires- steering assist- better design body/interior- I heard some rumors saying Hyundais engines were more reliable than Toyota. But for the Toyota - Engines are reliableIm a 15 year old that knows somewhat about cars.

Hemi. good reliable engine. Scotty, really? How could you have never heard of the common lifter failures flattening camshafts and destroying engines EVERYWHERE? Major achilles heel. potential HUGE MONEY PIT And don't think I'm a Chrysler hater as I've been a Mopar guy since before I could drive. Love old Chrysler products but don't have the time of day for the new junk.

I bought a 2009 Kia Optima in 2012. I put 200, 000 miles on it before selling it for 2400. It had 24, 000 miles when I got it. It ran completely trouble free all those miles, had advanced enough technology to save my life several times. It did have some major design flaws, however the new 2017 Honda CRV I bought to replace it has design and manufacturing problems.

Korean cars are now superior to most Japanese cars in terms of reliability. Things change, people. Japanese cars used to be inferior to American cars a long time ago, but now what? My guess is Hyundai/Kia will beat Toyota and VW in 10-20 years. Toyota is betting its future on FCEV cars, so they are screwed. VW still sells unreliable cars.
