Nice to know that you do endorse the use of some sealants. Many Mechanics do not, but truth be known, I have used both of those products before (only made by Rislone, not Barr's Leaks) and they worked. I did not use them correctly though (the copper, sodium silicate one) and I guess I got lucky, because there was not coolant n my oil (the leak was somewhere else. Thank's for the tips on how to correctly use that one. I didn't flush, so that's a great tip.

SCOTTY PLEASE HELP I drove my car with busted 'pads' front left past all warning noises until I lost brake pressure. I went to change the pads and realised the back of the disc was worn further than you've probably ever seen (It's paper thin. Now I can't compress the piston. I have a replacement piston but now it's looking like a big job. If the piston has come too far out what can I do. (Do you take work in England: ?

My 15 year old tundra's radiator finally crapped out. Unfortunately Toyota doesn't make it anymore. i bought one online, put it in, and it leaked almost immediately. I got another under warranty and it is starting to leak. Not a bad leak just seeping. I think I will try the bars stop. We used it all the time back in the day and it worked great.

I found sealers are a great temporary fix, but most heater cores will fail in time using it. Heater cores are often a low point were sealers end up first and clog them, then ultimately blow them out completely. Hopefully you won't have a Dodge, where the dash has to come out first before the core.

Scotty I swear when you're dead and gone I hope they build some artificial intelligence with your brain. I want you to be everyone's mechanic for decades to come. Maybe even centuries. Everyone needs their own Scotty. Humanity would save millions of dollars in the auto repair field

Used to have place here that specialised in reconditioning heater cores and radiators. My old Chevrolet trucks I usually owned had radiators and heater cores that were easily removed I just took them to him. Pick up next day. No places like that anymore. He also did upholstery.

Unless it's a beater on its way out I would never use radiator sealant. One time I used the old BARS radiator sealant with the black pellets. It affected my rubber hoses. The upper radiator hose was swelled up like a sausage under pressure.

Thanks Scotty will be using that ATP sealer as I have a bad rear main seal and got an estimate of 500 to get fixed and I do not want to pay that much only to have a seal replaced even though it leaks oil. Will be using this on my next oil change

No magic liquid is going to permanently fix your radiator or headgasket. It will get you a few more weeks or months of use before the problem arises again. It's best to just bite the bullet and replace the radiator or head gasket.
