Doing This Will Make Your Wiper Blades Last Twice as Long William Crane: I dont like to double down on a video but Shaky Front End? Let me tell ya. Years ago my brother had a 70? Ford Fairlane 500 (Really it was a Torino but they had the Fairlane emblems and such so it was one that left the factory with those on it) (Also, surprise, it had a Boss 302 in it with three on the tree transmission. That darn engine didnt stop pinging till you hit 90mph) Now I originally went to college about a 2. 5 hour drive in an old VW bug, but it stopped working fairly quick (thanks to no fluid in my master cylinder and the rear end of a Chevy. My parents would haul me down to school and drop me off. Fine with me, I had a bicycle. Heck, if I wanted to go home I could always jump a Greyhound. Then one day, they said Here, we bought your brother a new used car and you can drive his old one. This was cool and I drove it for about a year. Then one day I was on my way back to school, hit a pothole at 55mph and the front end started dancing. I pulled over, looked at it, Tires looked ok. Got back up on the road and around 60 mph it started shaking again. I told my parents when I got to school. Oh, it does that when it needs aligned. Bring it home and well get it set up. Ok? Took it into the shop they said they used, the front end guy sets it up starts down in the pit and leans on the front tire, it moved in about 6 inches. He looks startled then looked at me, said Wait a second goes into the pit comes back out and asks What did you do? I told him I was driving to school it started shaking. He said, listen, your folks are going to find out anyways so you might as well come clean. I told you, Ive been driving this about a year, it was my brothers car and last weekend on the way to school it started shaking. My parents said they new about it and it just needed aligned. Right, let me show you. Well the A frame had been hit so hard on the front that it was more like an M frame, with a lower case m too. I can fix this, but it will cost more then the car. I called my mom. Just bring it home, well get it done right YOU evidently didnt tell the guy right. Okay, so they DID know about it. My brother was driving the car, splashing water puddles in a big open gravel parking lot (plenty of power for fun) and one of those puddles, had an open hole in it, dropped it in and came to a sudden and abrupt stop. The guy in his backwoods town said Well, well see if we can get it straight for a beer bet, but you shouldnt take this on the road again. He told the folks, they said bring it home if its straight and well deal with it. And they gave it to me to drive twice the distance with no warning. Favorite son? Ill have to give a thought on whod that be. Yes, if it starts shaking or thumping at a certain speed, its probably an out of balance tire. The worse the lower the speed. But a front end guy can catch other problems, maybe a loose rod or mis-alignment. A straight and true setup will make those new tires last longer. Just dont let your brother drive it

Definitely agree with you on the recommendation of a Toyota Prius. Ive got a 2008 with 270000 miles on it still running on the original battery, engine and transmission and still getting 47 miles per gallon average. And I beat the heck out of the car using it for Uber and Lyft. Pretty hard to beat a Prius as you said the system they developed is essentially the same design they came up with a long time ago they just refined it and made it more efficient as time went on but its an extremely simple system. The inside of the transmission is all mechanical theres no clutches or bands to fail. All you need to do is change the transmission fluid every 50, 000 miles change the oil every 5-10 thousand Miles depending on which generation it is and change the air filter. Very low maintenance and quite frankly easy to do the maintenance yourself on the older models. Also on the lifter tick, a trick that I used to use on my Miata which tend to suffer from this problem. Is to use 3 quarts of ATF 1 quart of thick oil, with a new filter let the car sit in idle for 45 minutes to an hour change it out refill with your favorite oil and quality filter and oftentimes the tickle go away.

Took your advice and bought PIAA silicone wipers. And i love them Super quiet and last much longer than standard blades Thanks ScottyAnd as far as being more expensive, i find they are less expensive than premium brands like Bosch. And if you factor in not having to replace them as much, you save even more Case in point: wifes vehicle has Bosch(60/pair) bought 1 year ago. Have been making awful noise now for a month or so and are worn out. I bought PIAAs(50/pair) 6 months ago for my vehicle, not a single noise made by them and they clean as good as the day i bought them

Hi Scotty I love your channels its honestly one of my favorites and it deserves way more recognition. I bought a 1994 Toyota Celica GT off of your recommendation but the radiator fans wont work I replaced the coolant temp sensor and the car idles way nicer now but the problem with the overheating still persist. The fans DO NOT come on when it overheats. Can you please make a video on it or at least tell me where to find the switch. Also you should make a series where you buy an old car and make it lightning fast, people including myself would die to see that.

In the state of Oklahoma we have much more sun than rain. Result: wiper blades get sun damaged way before they wear out. Periodically putting some sort of protectant on them might help but not much use w/ the bent or curved problem. This occurs when the blade remains in the parked position for long periods of time while exposed to sunlight. The blade ends up with a curved edge which causes the wiper to chatter on the up stroke. What I do: reverse the blade so that the blade will get an opposite curve when parked. Will work for a few times.

Most windshield are made by Pilkington, PGW, or FY. The manufactures use these companies to make thier glass. (PGW acutally makes Mopar Glass, Toyota uses both PGW and Pilkington) All these companies have glass in China, Mexico, and USA. The more important thing when replacing a windshield, is diet technician who installs it. Most technicians have never gone through a proper training or have the knowledge of how to properly install a windshield. More often than not the cheapest place to install a windshield Is cheaper for a reason.

Yeah but I pay a fortune for alignment - even just CHECKING it. Then they often have to replace the CV boot for another couple hundred more. I drive in a fully paved city and barely even expose to rain, and never ever snow or ice, and under 10K/year. The car lives a pampered life, and doesnt get much wear anyway being a light TOYOTA. I have great happiness in my Toyota. but the biggest expense, bar none, has been alignment and front end cost. And what can I do, except pay. Also new axle. New bushings. Jeez.

Yes clean the blades, esp if you use RainX washer solvent. I deep cleaned my windshield and applied NuFinish per Scottys video on that process. Windshield seems to be staying cleaner. I will continue to use RainX washer solvent. Going to apply NuFinish to my hatch glass and probably the rest of my glass in the springtime. I like how NuFinish doesnt streak and haze like a manual application of RainX does. With RainX if you dont have streaking and/or hazing, you didnt put enough on or you took too much off.

Concerning tire shakes, I had some cheaper new brand name tires (4 new ones) that caused a high speed shake. Rotating the tires didnt help so bought another brand of cheaper tires and still the same thing. I isolated it down to one of two tires by rotating them. I bought two different stock wheels and hand them mounted and balanced on the new tires. Still the same thing. For the third try, I bought four new more expensive tires and that did the trick. I guess you get what you pay for.

I just replaced the Piaa silicone blades I put on 1 1/2 years ago after Scotty recommended them. They had started to tear in the thin web where they flex. I stuck on some cheap blades I already had but Im ordering more silicone blades for when the cheap ones die in a few months. The car sits in the sun all day. Added 2/25/19: When I went to reorder I found Id ordered a different brand Wipe Away that are no longer available. Getting Piaa this time.
