I have used Akebono ceramic pads on my BMW M3. The lack of brake dust is nothing short of amazing. But their stopping power is nowhere near as good as a set of standard brake pads. The only problem with standard brake pads that stop well, is the massive amount of black brake dust. especially on the front wheels. With the ceramic pads, brake dust is a light gray color and doesnt really become a serious problem until after 3 or 4 days of use. With standard brake pads, your nice shiny front wheels can be completely covered in black brake dust in a single day. In South Florida where your brakes are supremely important to avoid Collision or even death, I am hesitant to buy another set of ceramic pads. So, I just bought a set of all black wheels instead. That seemed to have greatly alleviated the problem of unsightly black brake dust on my previous nice shiny silver and chrome wheels.

I use the OE pads and rotors on my Z06. I was told by Carbotech Brakes that ceramic is fine for the street with low dust, but, wont stop well on the track. Whereas their racing pads wont work well at low temperatures. But, have very high frictional torque at racing temperatures. It was recommended to me to the Delco OEM pads are formulated to work well for both conditions. But, they produce a lot of dust. And if I were to constantly track the car, I should switch to racing pads. Since most of my driving is street, The OE pads seem to wear well, low noise and fairly smooth with lots of grip in all temperatures. And they seem to last reasonably long for what they are. And they dont cost all that much. My neighbor got front pads and rotors for his 911 Carrara 4. 2000. Delco pads and rotors for my car through RockAuto: 385 delivered. And my car is WAY more powerful.

Have a 99 Mercedes A160 that a few years ago got harder and harder to start in the morning when cold. Took it to 3 different local mechanics, one changed a crankshaft position sensor, one changed the spark plugs and one couldnt find anything wrong. Then I took it to a Mercedes authorized service center to have the codes read. They said it had codes for the air fuel ratio and the MAF was broken which is integrated into the ECU which costs 1000+ to replace. I found a company that rebuilds them so I sent it in. 250 later, still the same problem. When I finally decided to troubleshoot it myself, the first thing I did was measure fuel pressure. 40% low. A new fuel pump, filter and hoses later (150 plus some time to drop the tank) it starts perfectly every day.

We still import goods that contain asbestos brake pads, the people charged with protecting consumer safety say asbestos is no longer a problem because of the faulty assumption that the product has long been banned and that all manufacturers have stopped using it. In 1991, the U. S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the EPA, and today, it is legal to sell asbestos products ranging from brake pads to ceiling tiles in the United States. Imports of asbestos-containing products are on the rise. Why do you think Johnson & Johnson filed for Bankruptcy protection, for decades they knew talcum powder contained asbestos. Bankruptcy protection would put on hold all the lawsuits that have been filed across the country.

when I put on the cheap semi metallic brake pads and they make a squeak sound, people tell me, they think its metal to metal and they tell me they actually let off the brake OMG they are letting off the brake because the sound scares them. this means they are not making the car stop, I had to stop using that kind of brake pad when used car dealers demanded to use the cheap pads, always use the good ceramic pads, only cost about 10 dollars more. so yeah, the cheap brake pads was making people not fully use the brakes causing them to crash, this is what people have really told me, they simply are letting off the brake when its needed,

love the videos u are a true hero. I have a 89 civic rt4wd. the exhaust started making a flapping noise that can be heard from the cabin area, also causing power restriction. at first it would only flap for a few minutes after starting up, but keeping the rpm above 4k on the interstate seemed to burn through the restriction and the car would drive/sound normal. eventually it would start flapping/misfiring at red lights and stop signs. also the radiator fan isnt turning on although it is tested and works. not sure if a cooling sensor could be causing misfire/excessive exhaust noise/power loss. thanks for any input

Please help I had my brake booster replaced on an 05 mustang and now my brakes lock up after driving 10-15 minutes after sitting a while and turning the car ignition on and off it will release but then lock up again after driving awhile. it locks up to the point the car doesnt want to go The mechanic who changed the booster says it maybe the abs control module valve not opening? He was also able to make the brakes release using a computer he hooked to the car. any advice would be appreciated

Hi, Scotty. Ive learned a lot from watching your videos, and think youre a funny and smart guy. I recently smacked my wheel into a curb resulting in having to replace the control arm, CV axle, and knuckle. The axle and control arm were easy to get, but I had to go to a junk yard to get the knuckles, and spent days trying to find my make and model to get them. With that enormous wall of text out of the way, can I use knuckles from different cars in case this happens again?

I wanted to thank you for the great videos, I took you up on how to change your rotors and let just say things didnt end well for the family van, lets just say I didnt follow the steps right or yo left out a step or two. I ended crashing into the garage door and wrecking my bumpers. Lets just say the family trip to Disneyland has been postponed. But I wanna say I love your videos and I look forward to some more projects with your help. Cheers Bro.
