Sometimes Scotty is out to lunch. the Corolla Sedan and Corolla Hatchback are exactly the same car, same interior, dashboard, engine, transmission. one is a hatchback and one is a sedan. How would that affect the transmission? If the CVT is junk it is junk on both of them, unless maybe the transmissions are so bloody smart that they know when they are installed in the hatchaback so that is when they decide to fail? Don't think so. In all fairness it was Toyota's first CVT so it is logical that they will have issues the first couple of years. as the saying goes, NEVER buy anything when it first comes out. allow a couple of years for bugs to be worked out. The only difference is Toyota WILL work out the bugs and improve the car. other manufacturers know they are building junk and they just keep on doing it, no problems.

If you think about it, life is gauss law. I'm from Vietnam Era, it was gauss law outside, how do you make a microwave from sycamore mongoloid brush fire Bush? Welk any CPU gets a mighty toasty by mutual inductance. But no fun today, given Association of falling off a cliff, you fall off a cliff. The danger, the darkness, you should be able to float up to a mansion first.

Where are you supposed to send your automotive questions for Scotty to read them because I need to know why at idle, my 2005 Toyota Avalon with 411, 000 miles what seems like a slight mess or a quick sputter but it goes away under power? Maybe Plug wires? Ive gotten a lot out of it but its still in great shape and Im hoping this is a minor issue

When I was a young boy, my uncle who lived out in the sticks in Tahlequah Oklahoma had on old orange Datsun that he fixed-up. What I remember is driving full blast down them old gravel roads while he chewed tobacco and laughed. He was a small engine mechanic for mowers etc. and he thought Datsun's were the greatest.

So i recently bought a Corolla s 2010 and my mechanic put in 10 w30 oil because the car had 136k miles when I got it was it a correct move or should I just switch back to 5 w20 or use 0w 20 the manual says I can use either 5 w 20 or 0w 20(for better gas milage or cold weather) what do you recommend Scotty?

True bout low mileage old cars. My grannys 91taurus had 42k miles on it. The paint has faded bad in the last few years just from using and seeing the sun. The tires are dry rotted, and rubber seals are cracked. Otherwise its a good in town work car. Even in sub zero weather it starts and runs fine.

Got an Uber driver at Walt Disney World who had a 2016 Corolla. Got talking to him as Id just got a 2017 model and asked how his was running. Said he had no problems at all, pointed to the dash and it had 240, 000 miles on it. Still good cars, although I dont have the hatchback.
