GM is Ending Car Production in America DrSysop: Malibu & Cruze ended finally 2019 was the last year. Both vehicles suck & my 2016 Malibu transmission lasted to 60k & my 17 Cruze transmission failed at 15k. Only issue now is GM wont take the lease back as value dropped & I offered to buy it for whole sale price & they not accept it as at auction will sell for under 7k. I had to crash it let the GAP pay it off. The value dropped so much as now a 18 Cruze is worth 10k or less.

People have to understand, that there is not one perfect machine out there in the world today & that includes cars/trucks made by everyone else One thing that I have learned while doing two decades of military service is this; always conduct preventive maintenance on your car, before it begins to fall apart I own a Government Motors (GM) car called the 2013 Buick Regal GS. It was designed in Germany by Opel as the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, built in North America (Canada) and comes with a 6-speed Automatic Transmission built and designed by Aisin (Toyota. Matted with a 2. 0L Turbocharge Inline 4, It has 40K miles on the dash, has 270 HP at the crank, 295 ft-lbs of torque, gets gas mileage, still smells new and everything works fine The only problem I have with GM is the point that politicians dictate that in order to save the planet, we the people need to buy cars that are lighter, smaller and yes, junkier in the short-term Secondly, GM has to make the big Union Bosses of the UAW happy. All they are doing, just like every car company out there is doing, is following the Market. The bottom line, is GM cars/trucks are just the same as other car manufactures Ford, Toyota, Fiat-Chrysler (the biggest pos, Kia/Hyundai included. This is my two cents.

GM have been making cars in Australia, and dominating the national car sales figures since the late 1940's - until a few years ago. Things started going bad when low cost, high quality Korean cars made an appearance. In 2017 both GM and Ford closed all their vehicle manufacturing plants in Australia and started importing badge-engineered cars from Germany and America to make up for it. Sales tanked, and this week GM announced that they were cutting their product line to only 4 models, which, even now, are selling in small volumes. The smart money in the industry is saying that GM, probably followed by Ford, will totally collapse within 12 months in Australia. FYI the biggest selling single vehicle in Australia is the Toyota Hilux, the top three sellers are all light trucks, and the top selling car is Hyundai i30. Electric cars are nothing but a side show here.

Switching to regular gas will probably result in A. less power as you said, but also B. lower gas mileage. The computer will detect the lower octane gaz by hearing some knock, it will react to this by lowering pressure in the cylinders (mean effective pressure) and by retarding the spark, both of these will make your engine less efficient so some of your savings from the cheaper gas will go to filling your tank more often. It may amount to little or nothing or it may be 3 mpg, depends. The real question is why is 'premium' so expensive? Five years ago it was about 25c to go from 87 to 91, now it is that to go from 87 to 89 and another 25 to go all the way. This is about five times the cost to the refiner. Of course what happens in CA with all their 'special' gases becomes anybody's guess.

Love your vids Scotty, but you're way off on the Volt. First, it's not a plug in hybrid. it's an extended range EV. The engine only runs a generator to create EE and does not drive the wheels. Second, it doesn't only last 15 miles on battery with the AC on. Heat kills the battery way faster. In the summer, with AC running, I can get 68 miles on a full charge. winter with heat, it goes down to 55 or so In fact, because it can generate it's own EE, it can go 400 miles on a full charge and full tank. So, with my 22 mile round trip commute, I never need gas, but when I take a road trip down to Portland (180 miles one way) I can make the trip on 1 tank with room to spare. The Volt is so misunderstood, even by people who know cars like yourself. That's on GM for not explaining it properly.

GM have also stopped production of an Aussie Icon, called the Holden Commodore. 41 years of production has came crashing down for GM, with its lowest amount of sales since Holden was formed back in 1948 as a new company. The reason being: Back in 2017/2018 Holdens factorys were sold and production was started in Europe. With too much electrical issues, and a loss of 100's of jobs. We wanted to buy holdens because they looked good, and to support our jobs. Now they look like every Euro car, too many issues and too costly to fix. It wont be long until Holden is stopped altogether. Ford has also stopped production of it cars like the Falcons. Only making Ranger/Raptors, and fiesta's now. Very sad indeed.

I dont disagree a lot with you Scotty but you saying GM is garbage I cant agree with. We have owned over 3 fords and all went out at 90k+ when every GM product Ive ever owned has lasted 200k+. Also GM yes has had issues but our 2014 suburban is at 120k and only had shock issues because of previous owner. Other then that all of my GM products have always pulled and never failed on that side. Also their 4-wheel drive and ride has always been better then the comp.

GM. I wish I kept my '68 Opel Record 1700 (Europeean Opel. Yes, it was underpowered, indeed, it wasn't the best at taking corners, and sure it wasn't the most stable with some serious sidewind. But beeing 6'4 tall, I had all the space I needed insideAnd those engines always ran, and if you kept the rust under control, they would never fail you. And once a year adjusting the ignition and checking the valves was so easy to do with all that space under the hood

Scotty need help. My 2010 toyota prius with 192k miles, recently act weird. Its 23f here in Chicago, when starting car, engine start making noise on left side like something cranking or braking and starts shakes. It happens when engine starts, noticed that when i drive and engine starts, i feel that my left tire stops rolling and feel the crank. What could be that causing? No engine lights on, recently just changed left wheel bearing. Thank you

Get ready for another tax-payer funded bailout of GM. They lost their way a long time ago and just keep shooting themselves in the foot. The sad thing about it is they have the ability to build a good product the public will buy. Instead, they focus on how much money they can make per unit and cheapen the product. At the end of the day, no one wants what they sell.
