Toyotas are the best because Toyota back in the 1950's embraced Edward W. Demings Quality Control measures. In fact all of Japan went whole heartedly into Demings concepts for manufacturing the highest quality everything. During WW2 Edward Deming was hired by the US government to make sure that what the US manufactured in war equipment assured that the bullets would fire and their tanks would hit the ground running as they were shipped to Europe. After the war Deming approached Ford Chevy & Chrysler and they rejected his concepts because it would take 15 years to totally implement. Japan completely bought into Demings Quality Control program and continues to have what appears to be superior engineering and designs and the most reliable manufactured goods of any nation.

Hi Scotty Ive been binging on your vids all weekend and now you are inspiring me to want to be a mechanic but Im a lady so Im scared. Would you help me, I need a couple of suggestions on a good small truck and sedan recommendations. My vw beetle was totaled so I was looking for a replacement but your videos have convinced me not to. Ive driven the new ones since they came out and just put up with their problems because I was so in love with them. You have helped me see the light and looking for a replacement. Im being pushed to get a brand new SUV or a Tesla but Ive watched enough of your videos and Im leaning towards a truck or a Sudan and Im thinking we should get rid of my husbands Mercedes since its more trouble than its worth.

I watched a video a while back where a mechanic tore down a broken Nissan Rogue CVT transmission to figure out what went wrong. Turns out that Jatco CVT has a fatal design flaw, where the primary pulley has only FOUR small ball bearings to withstand all that torque from the engine. The four tracks that hold these four ball bearings in place which helps move the cone of the primary pulley up and down gets gouged out over time, which probably causes the belt to misalign, which then causes the steel belt to snap. You would think the engineers would at least make more than 4 tracks and 4 ball bearings to spread out the load, but I guess that's more money for them to spend in the manufacturing process.

Hey scotty, was wondering what you can tell me about O2 sensor codes for my 2013 GMC sierra 4. 8 liter. Getting check engine codes P0160, P2271, P2272 (just one at a time. I know what they mean and where they are. is the system oversensitive possibly and where should I start. They appear and I clear them, sometimes they self clear. then after some time of driving 2-3 months with no engine code they appear again. Thinking if there was a problem the check engine light would appear right away and not after using it for a period of time. truck only has 66, 000kms ( 41, 000 miles. east coast Canada. Big Al.

Hi I have a mitsubishi Colt Ralliart, it is 1. 5 turbo which is tuned to about 255hp and rolled about 80k miles. I have a weird issue, not allways but sometimes the car does a vialant hiccup, specifically at acceleration at 6000rpm. The mechanic have logged it and he can see that the car does not run lean which according to them rule out that MAF sensor, and everything else looks good. There is another theory that it could be the cranc/rpm sensor, but shouldn't this be constant? I don't know what to do about it but I don't want to just guess and replace everything.

In my opinion the best cars are honda toyota and mazda. Any of those that have been in my family never gave bother. My aunt had a toyota she never changed the oil in 10 years. Changed it over the weekend and its still running. Similar story with the mazdas and hondas that have been in my family, there was always 1 that missed 1 or 2 service intervals in its lifetime and they ran for years after they finally got a service. Just shows the quality of the product. I wouldnt be posting this comment if i didnt have this info

Toyota must write Scotty a check every week. GM secret-agents are spying on him. I've owned 5 GM cars in the last 40 years and never had any problems, they've all been manual transmissions, all high-performance V8s (except one, performed service per the manual, changed my oil per manual recommendations, never had one problem whatsoever. Oh, I did own one Oldsmobile in 1980 (Omega with the Iron Duke 2. 5) and that was junk. Maybe Scotty remembers 1980 GM cars?

Here's a Fact. Nissan and Toyota pre-1999 used about 80% to 90% of the same automotive suppliers from Japan, America, and Europe. The quality and durability for both automakers were close in 1999. After Carlos Ghosn took over Renault and Nissan he predominately used electrical and mechanical suppliers from China for 1/4 the cost. This is why Nissan's quality control is nonexistent now. And they haven't sold a Renault in the United States since 1985.
