Guys, friends - half of the questions and problems in the Scotty videos are related to automatic transmissions - guys - do you realize that standard transmissions are simpler, far more reliable, more fun to drive (even baby/small engine with standard transmission is fun to drive - and there is less chance to get speed ticket or kill yourself. I don't get it folks - the automatic transmissions are more expensive to buy, harder to maintain, can break more easily and cost fortune to replace/repair - you throw a pile of cash down the toilet instead of saving your money and energy to do something useful - buy your wife something good, repair the house, buy the kids a computer and a bicycle or save the money for bad days. I don't know - maybe it's because I like simpler and more reliable things - maybe you would have different opinion and this is fine. I just give you a different opinion to think about. Folks - driving manual transmission is NOT hard, trust me. When you learn it and you get useful to it - you would probably love it. Sorry for the long comment.

A girlfriend who I have an on/off relationship with was taking her car to a local mechanic to change the oil and check the rough sounding transmission on her 2005 Chevy Malibu. I degreased the entire drive train and took an engraving tool and etched the sides of the bolts and drain plugs, also put tiny marks on the oil filter to show if it was altered. When I saw the bill, I inspected to see that all the work was done. The mechanic changed the torque converter and the transmission was ok, but the old oil filter was still in place, lined up exactly where the engraved narks were, so they changed her oil, but didn't change the filter. I confronted the guy there and he assured me all the work was done, but when I showed him the pics of the old oil filter he tried to play dumb but went out to the car and repmaced the oil filter. He thought he was scamming a knowlegeless woman, but scurried like a trapped rat when exposed.

Love Honda's, presently got 96 Camry mint condition, couple decades ago, gyro copter engines were blowing up, vw, suburu-s etc, aero motors, anything they put in. Put 5 Civic motors in Gyro-s, flogged them hard, pulled them down at 500 hrs- all were still new specs. Worst thing to happen to many cars is front wheel drive and little room for real gearboxes, toy gearboxes. Best front drive I've had- older - suburu, Toyota corolla, Honda Civic and 60-70's Mini. New cars been a parts scam for decades now. Nth sth motors easier to work on, maintain, better balance. Easier on the pocket aside the modern day computer scam and parts monopolies. Millions of good cars go to scrap, few can afford simple mileage maintenance repairs to keep them on the road with today's cunning monopolies.

Man that hurt to hear Scotty say Corolla over civic. Cause I loved my 2014 Honda Civic ex-l 4-door sedan w/ cvt trans. I put about 30, 000 miles within 1 1/2 years of ownership. Bought it with with 40, 000 miles and ran it to a little over 70, 000. Many cross state trips that were 6 hrs one way and about 340 miles also on the one way going up hills (nonstops) and one tank from south Texas (Houston area) to west Texas (San Angelo) running her at 80 on cruise and she never skipped a beat or hiccuped. No problem at all only general maintenance and tires no brakes cause I was easy on em and I had it ran on synthetic. But for the next vehicle Ill look at both the corolla and civic. Hopefully I land a manual and it be N/A

My mom owns an Equinox and it is trash. The SUV is rusted out and it only has 75, 000 miles on it. I just bought her a Highlander (only a year younger) and its in immaculate condition underneath. Please don't buy Chevy. I bought a Camaro one time (1999) and I was driving 120mph on the highway in the left lane when guy brake checks me and the ABS threw me into two three-sixties right in the middle of the highway. Thank goodness it was early Sunday morning. Government Motors. I mean. General Motors sucks. A guy at my work has a fairly new Buick and its back at the shop and he was asking people for a ride yesterday. People learn from mistakes and buying gm is a mistake.

Scotty need some help, I've had my 2004 Silverado 5. 3 for 11 years now. Transmission just gave out on it and I recently replaced it with a rebuilt transmission I bought from Autozone. About a week later it gave out on me on the highway losing all transmission fluid from the torque rod converter end. Called the warranty center and they want me to pull the pan off take picture of any metal pieces if it has any. I feel like they should just replace the transmission with another crappy one, why should I have to take anything apart if they supposedly rebuilt this one right? What kind of advice would you suggest?

'Scotty I can either get a 2021 Mercedes AMG or a 1985 Toyota Corolla with 215, 000 miles on it, which one should I get? 'Scotty Me personally I'd take the Toyota. Mercedes is a big pile of junk. I've had customers get 300, 500, 000 miles out of the Corolla. I just fixed on the other day and it had 496, 000 miles on it. Air still Ice Cold. Had the original air filter. My son had one 30 years ago and he loved it. He was 9 and he drove it everywhere. I would definitely get the Toyota

I have questions. Scotty you mentioned that Italian cars are of quality(aside from the fact they are quite expensive) does that mean there could be reliable engines on particular brands and models? or that still depends on their engineering on how they built those supercars? I haven't heard any testimonials or read anything about those cars can run hundreds of thousands of miles. I've actually seen a reviewer with a fire extinguisher near the passenger seat in a lambo

Corollas are in no way more reliable than Civics. Friend bought a Corolla recently, and junked it after owning it for 2 weeks. Automatic transmission failure, plus it was using some oil. Only had 93, 000 miles, bought from an older woman. He says it's the worst car he's ever owned, and he's owned tons of BMWs and Fords, and they lasted longer.
