Scotty, I bought (was around 85. 00 at the time) an Innova 3100 abs OBD2 scan tool. ( I remember that at one time if you wanted more info you had to plug the device into a Laptop and pay for more advanced info, don't know if they still do that now, tho) I bought it back in September 2014. I will admit that trying to understand it kinda went over my head at the time. (I'm 68 years old now, When the computer cars started coming out, I lost interest and money wasn't quite so plentiful. I just saw it again in my toolbox and also found one of the Quick Reference Guide and may have the complete manual if I keep looking. What are your thoughts about this Scanner, I know that you have a much more advanced scanner, but can I get by with this scanner, I can't afford the newer ones. I love your videos. You do a great job of talking about cars and trucks. I have a 2002 one-owner Toyota Solara with the 2. 4 L engine with 242, 000 miles on and it runs very well. Thanks for all your help.

His comment about Hemi cars isn't exactly accurate, because a lot of us take care of our vehicles and aren't ready for the junkyard. Is like anything else and if you maintain things well, they will last. I own a challenger with almost 100k, and it's in excellent condition as well as very dependable. There were two previous owners, and they both took excellent care of it also. It's an SRT8, so it is one of those cars that would see a lot of action and didn't get beat on. It gets nothing but the best products, and always maintained at top level. It has been a very good car, and trust it to go anywhere in. Matter of fact the only problem that I've had, was an alternator and battery at about 70k. So yeah, not all of them are beat up and just need to look things over really well when shopping for anything pre-owned

Hi Mr. Scotty, Please clarify 2 things that you talked about in this video. This new 0 - 16 Oil, is it only for GDI engines? My 2014 Lexus IS350 calls for 0 - 20 Full synthetic. Should I consider changing? My IS350 also call for premium 91 Octane gas. All the gas stations around me have either 87, 89, or 93. There is no 91 I've just been putting in the expensive stuff by habit, I used to have a Challenger. If gas gets expensive again, What would happen if I put 87 Octane gas in? or started mixing octanes? Please help

I used to race cars and boats and motorcycles Ive always used Castrol. Ive never had an engine oil related break down I bought a 2011 Volvo XC90 and the manual specifically says to use Castrol Edge the SUV has 139. 000 miles on it and it runs like a top No leaks, drips or oil usage. My father in law was an engineer at Volvo his recommendation was change the oil and filter at the proper time and it will last forever My Volvo was born in Sweden and shipped here

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 360ci 135, 000 mi actual all stock. that continues to eat oil. I have replaced spark plugs and number 8 was foul out black. I have changed the PCV, on the one side. but other side (Valve cover) where PCV valve should be. is not one. Do I need to pull this bypass and clean the hose or something to make it stop eating so much oil. 2qts every hundred miles. runs and starts like top. zero blue smoke on startup or running.

Batteries? Dealers who deal with Farmers and Contractors with Machinery are usually good. Those dealers can't afford to sell crap. They depend on repeat buyers. If they try a new brand they normally sell it cheap without much margin to start with but tell you they don't know how good they are. Thats where I always go if I need a Battery and have a choice. In Australia they are always cheaper also than Auto Stores etc.

I wonder when will they make this new GDI optimized oil for GDI engines that don't run crazy thin 0W-16 oil. There's no reason why they can't replicate the GDI aiding capabilities of this new oil in thicker and more sensible viscosities for a huge number of cars such as 0W-20, 0W-30 and 0W-40 so practically all engines worth running can benefit from the superior cleaning capabilities.

If you use that thin a viscosity oil in your car, better be prepared for oil leaks. I'm a firm believer in 10/30 and an oil additive like STP or Lucas. With Lucas I don't recommend putting a whole quart with 4 quarts they recommend unless you drop to a thinner oil. Additives used right, work very well in reduced oil consumption and reduced friction equals longer lasting motors.

Scotty, I own a 2009 gmc acadia. Did my homework after I bought it. It leaks engine oil even after I took it to the mechanic (can't find him anymore. It also has transmission problems. Should I change the transmission oil. Will that help or what do you recommend me to do. Love your videos and how you keep things real and honest. Any advice. And I can't take it back. Lol
