You Have to Be Crazy to Buy This Car Leighann: Hey Scotty, I have a question that really needs answering! I noticed in your description you have some really useful links for a couple of scanners, some tools, things like your 4k camera. I noticed some of them dont have a link of where to purchase them! For example the first thing on the list of things you used to make your video, right above the 4k camera, I noticed it lists common sense. Im wondering where I can purchase that in bulk so I can give it out to the majority of Americans and all of Chrisfixits fans? Thanks again for the videos Scotty you helped me fixed my Nissans clutch a few weeks ago! Keep up the great up work! And please let me know the link for that if you could!

I have the successor model to the Cobalt. a 2014 Cruze. I bought my car when it was 3 years old (41, 600 miles on it) and I've had no major problems with it. I've only had to do some engine maintenance in the time I've had my car, but the cost of maintaining a car comes with owning it. I've learned that the reliability of a car depends on how well it's been maintained and driven. I've kept up on routine maintenance such as regular oil changes and even had the transmission oil changed when it was recommended by the manufacturer. I also don't drive my car like a race car like most people do. Overall, my car has been very reliable and I've been happy with it so far.

Hey Scotty, been watching your videos for a God knows long. And I've learned so much, I have a 2002 Chevy Impala, and when I first bought it, it seemed OK, but of course there was a million problems and a half, so after fixing everything, it ran good for awhile, then soon after, it was problem after problem after problem, but as of today it is running, great, nothing is leaking anymore, and I love it, I don't like Chevy and will never buy another one, but I feel like the O 2 Impala with a good fit for me as a first car, it was pretty affordable, and his got me where I need to go, it is also my daily driver.

The 80 K cars are a breed of their own. I bought a Daytona Turbo, with a computer controlled engine. I could drive that car and it would just shut down. Twenty minutes later it ran again. Took it to the dealer twice and they could find no reason. The third time at least 5 mechanics looked at it and chatted. Then a manager in his white shirt and black tie came out with a big binder. They all looked in the binder. A magic finger pointed at that book and pointed under the hood. On the assembly line they installed the none turbo computer!

I drove a 2000 Corolla for 12 years. It wasnt a good car. Massive oil consumption and worn out engine at 190, 000 km. Corollas are known for buring oil, especially the 98 - 02 models. That Chevy Cobalt is a better car than a Corolla, imho. Btw, the Corollas and even the 2012 civics still have drums on the back on the base models too. And they dont have sporty engines either. People unfairly rag on GM cars and unfairly give Japanese cars undeserved praise. I currently drive a civic, but I am not biased against NA cars.

Hi Scotty, big fan. Question, Why on earth do car builders put disc breaks in-font and drum brakes at the back? Surly the discs are cheaper and easier to fit or maybe even cost the same? Also here in UK they will build a 1300cc and 1600cc engine on the same plat form but charge more for the 1600cc. I cant see how the cost of building a 1600 costs more to build than a 1300 with the same design engine in the same factory? Tony

Thanks Scotty. Some good advice. Now I know which GM car to buy if I get desperate! I've had my share of GM vehicles. My first car was a '76 Nova (good, later I had a 92 Chevy S10 (OK truck till the bed rusted out, and (very briefly) an '83 Chevette (absolute garbage wagon. Overall they've been OK. Personally, I've come to like Hondas these days, though I may look a bit closer at Toyota and Lexus next time I'm in the market.

I enjoy the Cobalt, had to do repairs to it, but that comes with age, along with wear and tear, ( no major issues ) I also don't mind working on my car. I have worth while hook ups for parts, new, rebuilt, and remanufactured. ( I usually get new parts, but sometimes buy rebuilt or remanufactured parts, depending on what it is. Sometimes I get used parts, depending on what part it is. ( Usually last resort.

I brought a 2003 pontiac sunfire for some pocket change for the time my girlfriend was back to school. We tell ourselves lets run this thing 'till it dies. 4 years later, the thing won't die lol. No check light, light sign of rust around the gas door otherwise very nice paint. Start like new in our very cold canadian winter. Most Corolla from the same year are a pile of rust up here lol.

I got a 2008 Pontiac G5 that I bought in 2011 for 13k. its pretty solid and has 136k miles now. the only thing was the front speakers blew out after a year and haven't been replaced since. I have similar stuff like the paint fading and tpms needing to be replaced but never had to do any major fixes to the engine or transmission so if you can find one of these cheap its a solid choice.
