So I made the mistake of buying a Mazda w/ an automatic instead of a Toyota. I had one with a manual for about 12 years with zippo problems. I had no legitimate complaints about the car. I just wanted AC in the car. This new one is a 2017 model. This was before I found your channel and learned the wisdom of Toyota. Well so it comes with a lifetime transmission fluid BS. I asked the folks at the dealership about that. They recommended changing the transmission fluid at 50-60K. They said they will drain and change, not flush. This is mentioned nowhere in the owners manual. So thanks, Scotty, Ill do a drain and change at 50K just because its a Mazda transmission. Cant hurt to be a few thousand miles early.

My VW Passat wasnt starting and no lights came on and it was during a really cold winter, so I bought and installed a BRAND NEW battery. The next day the car was dead again, so I had it towed (no charge with my warranty) to the dealership. After an hour, the dealer told me I need a NEW battery(about US 250 - double what I paid at the retailer) When I told him the battery was less than 24 hours old, he told me hed need to do some more tests - two hours worth, which is almost the price of a new battery I told him something is OBVIOUSLY draining the battery even when the car is off. Ill let you know when I hear back tomorrow isa

When I bought my new 370Z I noticed that all of the external latches and hinges were dry I bought a can of spray white Lithium grease and a tube of the solid grease and lubed up all of the external metal parts that rubbed or pivoted and the action of my hood, rear hatch and doors became very smooth and effortless. Good stuff that Lithium grease. I used a can of spray Teflon synthetic grease for all of the interior hinges and moving metal parts. My seats operate more smoothly and quietly than before. I was disappointed that a new car dealer would release a newly sold car without this kind of basic preparation.

You really cant win as a dealer service writer. You either sell the fluids and are scamming the customer or you dont sell the fluids and are scamming the customer. I worked with a mechanic that retired from rebuilding differentials and transmissions, and he suggested replacing all the oils within 30k. He said he had seen lifetime transmission oils destroyed in 30k. People think because they spent 40k in a car there should be no maintenance. With todays 9 speed and CVT transmissions, its an ounce of prevention doing maintenance.

Lol. I had an F-150 that kept blowing alternators. Finally figured out what was causing it. To preheat the intake air they ran the coolant through the metal part of the intake that was close to the engine. One of the rubber hoses developed a pinhole leak, so small that it only squirted during the first few minutes on a cold start and didnt cause the coolant level to drop noticeably between flushes. It shot fluid over the engine and landed right in the cooling vents on the alternator.

Its funny that people hate going to dealerships to buy cars. Its fun if you know what you are doing. With all this information out there why be timid? You can go to places like Carmax with their no haggle price and overpay for the executives at the top. In a free market, dealers have a right to make a profit like your home builders, House Sales people or any commodity being sold. If not, then pay the listed price and no back and forth.

you say power stroke diesels are great, but that is only if you spend a few thousands to bulletproof the engines to make them reliable. The 6. 0 and 6. 4 were both known to grenade, if you used them for any extended time without spending the money to make it reliable. I prefer a Duramax diesel with the Allison transmission, any Duramax from 2010 maybe a little older would be a good choice. They are less of a headache than the power strokes.

from what ive learned working inventory in a dealership: being a salesperson is extremely stressful due to the fact that they are paid based on how many cars they sell (and hourly, 90% of the time the price of the (used) car someone wants to buy the dealership barely makes a profit on. although ive witnessed my dealership buy a clients car for 1500 and sell it for 10k. also witnessed my dealership buy a car for 17k and sell it for 30k.
